Do some people really believe that non-believers were NEVER believers?
Its disturbing how some people think that non-believers are immoral heathens who have never "seen the Lord" and know nothing about him or the Bible. As a regular here on Y!A, you should know that this isn't true. Yet many constantly state that they will pray for the souls of the non-believers because we are ignorant and don't know what we are talking about. Yes, I am aware that there are atheists that claim Christians are ignorant. This is not a question about that. I think they are wrong for judging as well. The question is simple. Its stated above and in addition I would like to know why some people think this way. Thank you in advance.

Well, there ARE actually quite a few who weren't ever.
But a lot of us used to be at SOME point. Me included.
Anyway: I think the reason why some people say that is because they believe in the No True Scotsman fallacy in regards to their own faith. Especially a lot of Christians tend to do this. "If you are not a Christian now, you weren't EVER a Christian, period". Because people cannot "lose their salvation", supposedly, hence if they do not believe now, they did not ever believe in the past either. Or if they DID believe in the past, they still secretly believe deep down.
..Or at least that's what I've gathered from talking to quite a few Christians on here. (Not ALL of them subscribe to this way of thinking, though. But a lot of them do.)

I used to counsel children at a church camp. I helped many people find Jesus in my believing days. So I guess I don't have to worry about hell now since "once saved always saved"
