What a way to go for mike mo?
did you guys happen to see any of the game. Mike Modano in his final home game had a beautiful assist on the first goal, tied the game late in the 3rd and won the game in the shootout. He is my idol, i watched him growing up. I literally cried as he stood to a standing ovation and waived to the crowd with tears in his eyes. Have you guys ever had an experience like that with hockey?

Im a huge Mike Modano fan as well. Hes a hero to many in our native SE Michigan. Itll be sad if he hangs up the skates this season. I dont know why he would retire yet. He still has a couple seasons left in him.
My similar experience was when Steve Yzerman handed the Cup to Vladimir Konstantinov in 1998. Konstantinov, along with Viacheslav Fetisov, and team masseur Sergei Mnatsakanov hired a limousine to drive them home after a Stanley Cup party in June of 1997. The driver, Richard Gnida, whose license was suspended at the time for drunk driving, was tanked and swerved across the median and hit a tree somewhere on Woodward Ave. in Birmingham, MI (about an hour North of where Modano is from, hour West of my house). While Fetisov and Mnatsakanov eventually recovered, Vladdy was never the same. He is pretty much crippled and suffered severe brain damage. Still, he was brought down to the ice for the on-ice Cup celebration, and Stevie Y, who was the first to receive the Cup, immediately handed it to Konstantinov. It just showed the type of guy the Stevie Yzerman was (and still is of course), and how much love and respect the team and the city of Detroit had and still have for Vladimir Konstantinov. Nobody wears his number 16 anymore even though it isnt formally retired, and his locker still remains vacant in the Detroit lockerroom. In his locker, there is a rock that says "Believe". That moment, when Stevie Y first handed Vladdy the Cup, was very moving for me.

I was at Maurice Richard's last game at the Montreal Forum, there were enough tears that night to fill the oceans. He was pointless however.

What a way to go for him. My guess is he'll play one more year but not with the Stars.
