Deli Turkey meat 'comes from' turkey but is more like a hot dog or a baloney that only contains 'meat' and lots of other things that make profit for the manufacturer. It's known as MSM or Mechanically separated meat also known as mechanically recovered/reclaimed meat (MRM), a very low quality form of the bird!

It is a paste-like meat product produced by forcing turkey or chicken bones, with attached edible meat, under high pressure through a sieve or similar device to separate the bone from the edible meat tissue. Mechanically separated meat has been used in certain meat and meat products since the late 1960s. This product can be contrasted with meat extracted by advanced meat recovery systems. The most common use of MSM is into hotdogs.

These 'meats' have been associated with Mad Cow Disease since spinal cord tissue is also used in the slurry.

"But it tastes real good' is what some people say!

    Bon appetite dude!

I certainly hope you would be able to tell the difference between fresh turkey, and processed turkey loaf... If its labeled turkey then the product would have to contain a certain percentage to be labeled as such, and the rest being fillers.

Deli turkey slices are the ultimate disguise for mystery meat.

Ask the butcher/deli person if the meat is processed or is whole. they can tell you. Also, buy high quality or store roasted/smoked turkey.. not off brands
