What do you consider to be a good Muslim?

simply , someone who obeys Allah

A Muslim has three levels of Faith;

1. Muslim – A Muslim is that person who declares that he / she believes in the teachings of Islam. He/she declares that there is no God but Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His last messenger.

2. Mo’min – A Mo’min is that Muslim who practices Islam in all aspects of life. He/she practice what he/she says. The heart verifies what the tongue says.

3. Mohsin – A Mohsin is that Mo’min who achieves complete peace and satisfaction in this worldly life. The life of a Mohsin becomes Heavenly right here on Earth. This condition is called the state of EHSAAN.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith: 1. The one to whom allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else. 2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for allah's sake. 3. Who hates to revert to Atheism (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire." (Book #2, Hadith #15)

In my opinion, Muslims should should be good role models and should set a good example to the non-believers so that when they look at a Muslim's character and behaviour and see how great it is, they would want to be Muslims too. Muslims have to project the right image especially when they're a minority in countries such as Canada and U.S.A. They should be honest, truthful, trustworthy, modest, patient, tolerant, punctual, kind, generous, forgiving, brave and hard working. They should be good to people even if those people are not good to them. Allah has said in the Glorious Qur'an "Tolerate patiently what they (the unbeliever) say and part from them in a polite manner" (73:10). Muslims should also practice forgiving people because Allah is always forgiving them. They should use the Noble Prophet Muhammad's (Sallallahu 'alayhi wa Sallam) example when the people of Taif threw stones at him and he forgave them.

A Muslim = Who believes in Allah

A Mou'min = Who believes in Allah and obeys each n every commandment with all of his/her sincerity. He / she does not believe in a false messenger. He / she follows example of Prophet Muhammad pbuh about which more than 30 verses are commanding to Obey Allah, Messenger & Follow Messenger.

Obey Allah = Obey Qur'an

Follow Messenger = Follow the way Prophet Muhammad pbuh practiced Qur'an.

Here below mentioned verses clearly commands to follow Prophet Ummi pbuh {Prophet Muhammad).

7:157 follow the messenger, the UMMI prophet (Muhammad), whom they find written in their Torah and Gospel.* He exhorts them to be righteous, enjoins them from evil, allows for them all good food, and prohibits that which is bad, and unloads the burdens and the shackles imposed upon them. Those who believe in him, respect him, support him, and follow the light that came with him are the successful ones."

7:158 Say, "O people, I am GOD's messenger to all of you. To Him belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. There is no god except He. He controls life and death." Therefore, you shall believe in GOD and His messenger, the gentile prophet, who believes in GOD and His words. Follow him, that you may be guided.

A decent human being is a good Muslim , good Christian , good Jew or whatever you name it .

Well, i consider that if we r a good human being, we can be a good Muslim
