I dont know why people keeping saying Free Obamacare when there is no such thing. Even if a public option had passed, that would be like buying insurance. I think there may be long-term insurance offered from the government. I don't know where that notion of free heatlh care came from. There is supposed to be an expansion of Medicaid but other than that, I don't understand what Free Care they mean.
The $250 is for people who reached their donut hole in the prescriptions Part D. I don't think it is for everyone on SS. Obama suggested another $250 check this year in lieu of the COLA but Congress did not approve it. You should do a search about this.

Last year 2009, there was a one-time payment. If you read your SS information in December, the pamphlet indicated no increase. No promises have been made for future payments.

No one promised you $250 or even a cost of living raise. The politicians got it. They voted against us getting it. You should check with you local politician. Forget the money . It is not going to happen.
I'm eternally grateful that this is no big deal to me.

No one ever promised anyone a payment of $250. and I wouldn't hold my breath until you receive another.

The $250.00 was a "perhaps" but never a "promise" - we did not get a raise in COLA because there was no cost of living to increase.

It will be going only to those people who have Part D (prescription) coverage and are affected by the "donut hole."

The "elected" politicians (thieves) kept it, so they could "vote" themselves a fat raise.
Just remember this when the next election comes around, and certainly, in 2012.
