Cylinder stop problems on a Taurus 38 special?
So, about a month ago, I bought a Taurus 38 special revolver. I noticed that the cylinder stop would get stuck down if you attempted to pull the trigger with the cylinder out to the side. At first, I didn't think this was a major problem because it would only get stuck if the cylinder was out and the trigger was pulled, plus it was easy to fix when it did happen--I just dislodged the stop with a knife. But recently I cleaned the gun and oiled the cylinder stop in hopes of fixing this problem. It all seemed great until we went out to shoot the gun the other day. I handed the gun to my girlfriend to shoot, she pulled the trigger and nothing happened. We emptied the ammo and the firing pin had struck the primer, but it stuck it off-center. On further inspection, we realized the cylinder stop started getting lodged down every time you ****** the hammer back. I tried cleaning it again, and the problem did not improve. My question is, can this be easily fixed? or Does this problem work itself out over time? Also, I know Taurus has a lifetime warranty on their guns, but I don't want to have to ship it off if I don't have to. Any KNOWLEDGEABLE input is greatly appreciated.
Oh, and I have taken gun safety courses, have been around guns for well over half of my life, read the entire safety manual for this gun, and for every gun I own, and none of them have said not to pull on the trigger or hammer without the cylinder in. I'm not retarded, I didn't pull the trigger or the hammer all of the way back, nor did I pull with much force at all, just far and hard enough to feel the stopping mechanism which doesn't allow the hammer to be pulled all of the way back.

Why in God's name are you pulling the trigger or hammer with the cylinder out???????? You don't do that!!! That is NOT normal operation. You likely broke it and should stay away from guns until you learn how to use them or have taken several gun instruction/safety classes and are old enough.

This is NOT something you want to attempt to fix yourself. Either return it to Taurus for a fix, or a competent local gunsmith.
