Don't assume that the water is bad. Have it tested for impurities. Hardness is self-evident, as is the presence of iron. Sears has hardness testing available and retails a good water-softener. To my knowledge there is no piece of equipment that will both soften and purify. Purification takes a separate filtering system.

Start with the water test. It should run around fifty bucks at a testing lab; then you'll know what you have to deal with. If it smells good and doesn't taste bad, don't waste your money. Check with others on the same system as yours and see what their experience is.

As stated above you need to have your water tested to evaluate what your needs are. If it is just soft water you need and live in a city that treats their water, then a low buck box store softener would work fine. A company called Water Right just came out with a combination softener/carbon unit that both softens water and also takes care of taste and odor all in one unit. I am looking at putting this unit in my own home.

A opposite osmosis gadget which will grant you with quite much distilled water expenses from 2 hundred to 3 hundred and you may set up it your self. this provide you approximately 5 gallons day of organic water. ingesting organic water isn't as wholesome as you may think of. The contaminants are bumped off yet so are different minerals. soft water is undesirable for the coronary heart because of the fact the minerals are shielding and mandatory. I drink some from opposite osmosis and a few from the faucet. $5,000 is ridiculous, a waste of money, and in case you drank distilled water each and all the time you will get ill. A water softener for laundry clothing is something else and can go interior the warm water line basically. It makes use of a salt ion to alter different minerals interior the water and can be undesirable for blood rigidity in case you drank it. shop your self a kit and in basic terms get a small decrease than the sink gadget for making beverages and sparkling ice cubes.

ask your local health dept about the water in your area..and then ask the people who install them, whats best for you. (we don't all live where they're needed/wanted.)
