Why do Christians love their mystic religion, but despise the mysticism when their Bible is jam packed with it?

I'm a Christian who admits that the Bible is a mystic book no matter how much pastors try to convince me that mysticism is evil. Here are

some examples:

The Garden of Eden.

The Plagues of Egypt (came from a realm other than Earth's realm).

The Israelites were protected by the blood of a lamb on their doorposts.from the plagues.

Moses reading the mind of Aaron as God spoke to Aaron.

Moses performing the miracles before Pharaoh.

The crossing of the Red Sea led by Moses and Aaron.

The crossing of the Jordon led by Joshua.

The slaying of 33,000 or so when Josha broke the pitcher.

King David had a seer who was a mystic.

Daniel's telepathy to Nebuchadnezzar to determine what Nebuchadnezzar's dream was and to interpret it.

Daniel's prophetic dreams.

Daniel changes dimensions by staying unharmed in the furnace.

Daniel had a special relationship with animals and he survived the chamber of lions.

A whole lot of other stuff in the OT.

Jesus of Nazareth's birth announced by beings beyond this realm.

Jesus healed people with power from beyong this realm.

Jesus transfigured before three apostles on the mount.

Jesus spoke from a different realm, bewildering everyone.

Jesus identified what demons are and he had the supernatural power to cast them out.

Jesus raised Lazarus from permanent sleep.

Jesus said that he must transform as a seed of wheat transforms into a plant of wheat, bearing food and more seeds (John 12:24 rewritten to

transform into a truthful statement).

Jesus rose from permanent sleep and floated into Heaven.

Apostle Paul supposedly became an apostle without ever meeting Jesus in the flesh.

Apostle Paul did the same miracles Jesus did except rising from permanent sleep.

Apostle Paul rose up into an unknown realm (the third Heaven)

Apostle John had a dream of Revelation and he wrote about it, describing the end of mankind.

All of these examples hint that there's a realm other than our natural realm where God resides. If Christians believe in this realm, they fit the definition of 'mystic.' Why then do they say mysticism is evil when they themselves are mystics?

Update:

Definitions for mysticism: a religion based on mystical communion with an ultimate reality.

obscure or irrational thought .

Mysticism (from the Greek μυστικός, mystikos, an initiate of a mystery religion) is the pursuit of communion with, identity with, or conscious awareness of an ultimate reality, divinity, spiritual truth, or God through direct experience, intuition, instinct or insight.

etc. Get my drift?

Update 2:

Bat and Schism gave good answers so far. Eric plainly stated the obvious, completely avoiding the question.

Update 3:

Eric, mystic experiences are sent by God and there are other mystical experiences sent by Satan. Since Jesus said that he is the way, Jesus is the only godly way to open the door (pineal gland). He's the only way to the Father. Just opening the door is a mystical experience.

Of course you would think that Bat and Schism gave good answers because they agree with you. Why don't you just go to the source Himself, Jesus Christ. It is within your spirit that you can commune with Him. There is no mystical door. Jesus is that door and it is through believing in Him and accepting Him as Lord and Savior that the door is opened. Jesus is Reality. Bat said that we just listen to our pastors rather than reading and understanding the Word. He is wrong. How dare he say this when he doesn't know the Word Himself. You speak as if we have the power to open the door. We don't without Him for He Himself is that door. He is the only Way, Truth and Life, remember? You must have the Spirit of God to understand His Word and you better be careful what spirit you are entertaining. The powers that Adam and Eve had before the fall were God given and He took them away right after the fall. He also said that those doors were to remain closed and that we are not to go there.

You are so deceived. Daniel didn't use telepathy to interpret those dreams. God gave Him the wisdom. David didn't have a seer. David had the prophets from God. Saul sought out a seer and he brought out a familiar spirit that told him he would die that day and what he did was wrong. John had a vision in the Spirit. Revelation 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet...

Jesus didn't rise from a permanent sleep and floated into heaven. What have you been reading? Jesus rose from the dead, He conquered death and hell, He was seen by the women, two men on a road, the disciples, and 5,000 others for 40 days before ascending unto Heaven.

We have a supernatural God who is above the natural, yes but don't say He's a mystical God. When you do this you are placing Him with the mystics, demons, fallen angels and satan. He is above all that and there is no evil in Him. You need to repent before you try and deceive others.

Paul was not a disciple. Saul was blinded in the desert and changed his evil ways (cue music). Old Testament tales have to be taken with a grain of salt as it is very likely the story of Adam and Eve is a simple allegory; that Moses and Aaron had a special bond and knew what would turn Pharaoh's heart through G-d's prior communication, blah, blah.

The trouble with Eastern mysticism is it's insistence that the individual is meaningless, that the nail that sticks up shall be hammered down, etc. Belief in purely hypothetical 'goodness' is hooey. Jesus was flesh and blood; was killed, did rise, and performed miracles. That's what counts.

Noah: who said there were all 5+ million species of land animal in existence when the flood took place? Doesn't that almost seem to against what we would expect if natural selection were in play? Wouldn't we instead expect Noah to have needed to take far fewer species of animal and insect along? It's thinking like this that got the church in trouble last century! And who said that everything Noah took on the ark had to be of adult age? And you do realize that we actually have dimensions from the Bible for how large the boat was - not near as phenomenal as you seem to postulate it needs to be. Anyone approaching the Bible from a historical/archaelogical perspective realizes the Tower of Babel was probably an early ziggurat, and there is little the text says about the height of the tower, but more about the intention of it's builders... As for how I can believe? Because I have evidence - God lives in me.

I don't read Scripture literally. In the tradition of Mystical Theology, Biblical texts are typically interpreted allegorically, like Adam and Eve and a lot of the OT stories. It doesn't take away from the truth.

Mysticism is also found in the sacraments.

Although Christianity is supported by a long tradition of academics, we are still pondering a mystery. I believe the supernatural and the natural co-exist and I'm not talking about ghosts or devils, but in a transcendence of the monotony of the day, if we pay attention.

If you had any understanding of what the bible says, you would see it isn't mysticism. There is another realm, it is called the spirit realm, and it is only mystical to the unlearned and undiscerning. Spiritual things cannot be understood with the natural mind, and therefore seem mysterious. Read 1 Corinthians 2:14.

Most people confuse mysticism and magic. "Mystic" faiths tend to rely on the individuals ability to control the mystical . Examples are Wicca, pagan cults of Rome and Greece, ect. The magicians of Egypt duplicating the miracles God performed through Moses. Notice i said God did through Moses.

All the examples you cited out of scripture were initiated by God. God performed those wonders.

Mystic religions or faiths rely on the individual initiating the miracle or the contact. Even when the Apostles perform miracles, they were sent by God.

Brother, even Jesus provided for and performed "mysteries" during his brief stay on earth. Do you choose not to believe these as well? Which is easier to say, "God cannot perform mysteries/miracles" or "because I am a man with limited knowledge, I choose to believe that God cannot do such mysteries."

I think what you're saying is "you don't accept man's interpretation of history in the Bible. No?

I think modern Christianity has tended to emphasize a practical aspect in terms of "what must I do to be saved? Good, I've done that already, yay." And hence we lose sight of our supernatural rebirth in Christ and what that means for us.

Part of Christian life is certainly obedience but the rest is all relationship and we should expect to find an experience of the Living God as we mature in our faith. It should not be the primary goal of Christianity to have a mystic experience, but we should be open to it.

the bible is not mysticism and neither is the religion we follow

by definition in god's word of what a christian is, you are not considered a christian, even though you call your self one

none of what you listed is mysticism

you are making the material to appear to fit your definition of mysticism
