Is there a denomination where you can read the Bible decide for yourself?

I would like to know if there are any denominations that allow the individual to read the Bible and decide what to believe for themselves, in terms of theology (whether Unitarian/Trinitarian, whether to continue with Baptism and Communion, whether Charismatic worship is useful etc.), or at least in terms of the "controversial" subjects (e.g. abortion and homosexuality).

I've come to the conclusion that my beliefs can differ from someone else's and there's no harm in that; so I want to see if there's a group of Christians who believe the same thing.

Thank you!

Quakers are like that. They have time in their services where members can stand up and say their interpretation of something, ask questions and lead discussion.

After you've read your Bible and decided for yourself what you believe it will be no problem finding a denomination that believes the way you do...there is no shortage of denominations believing different things.

I do think you're on the right track by wanting to read the Bible first instead of allowing others to tell you what to believe.

Another good idea is to look into Bible commentaries at your Christian bookstore or online. I like to use several so that I can weigh the best options for interpretation. Some I'd recommend are: The MacArthur New Testament Commentary; The Believers Commentary, Unger's Old Testament Commentary, The Matthew Henry Commentary, Thru The Bible by J. Vernon McGee, and William Barclay's The New Daily Study Bible Series.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, they are known as the Pharisees & the Sadducee. They read the Bible and decided for themselves what theology to believe, but they would not believe in Christ Our Lord. Jen do you know the difference between a Christian and living the Christian way of life? You cannot explain what you do not understand. Your questions are to much confused. You are mixing faith and works of abortion, homosexual, Baptism, Your conclusion is not in line with Philippians 2:5 " Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. verse 2..that you be likeminded..being of one accord of one mind '.

Generally churches don't like free thinkers, they want you to go with the flow. After studying the bible myself I found what the bible says and what my former church taught were two different things. I'm pretty much an independent Christian now. In other words I do not belong to any church. I still do my bible study and worship Jesus, but outside a church environment.

There are plenty of churches who will lead you astray. Hopefully that's not really what you want.

If you want to be taught the bible truly, find a Calvary Chapel. They don't "tell" you what to think; they teach the bible!

Of course not dear. Anyone with common sense would simply laugh it away...

Christianity…the belief that some cosmic Jewish zombie will grant you immortality, if you ‘symbolically’ eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can rid an evil imbedded in mans soul because some rib woman was tricked into eating a magic apple by a talking snake…yeah makes perfect sense

most would.........but you would be wrong because the elders are to teach the new believers..scripture will help you discern between the wheat and the chaff.
