I'm a very compassionate vegetable. I love my bed frame.

  • Why do people call that thing a 'Camel Toe', spiritually speaking?

I find it's really hurtful. I was born a camel, I can't do anything about it (and no, I can't "change" so don't tell me to go Ex-Camel ministries).

Do you think I can sue the person who first called it a 'camel toe' on discrimination grounds?

What do you believe God says about camels?

  • MacBook Speakers sporadically not working?

My 2008-model Aluminum MacBook (13", if that helps) is having some major trouble with the internal speakers.

Over the past several days (with similar problems happening about a year ago), they stopped working sporadically for periods as little as a few seconds and as much as a few minutes; sometimes fine for day, other times happening every few minutes for a few hours. Just before they stop working, I will hear three soft but audible pops (or several sets of three if it's really bad), the volume on the toolbar grays out, which is also the same when I look in settings.

At the moment, they haven't been working for about 20 minutes (although I just heard some pops, so maybe something will happen soon)

Headphones seem to work fine, and no issue with the microphone either.

What could this be? Is there a quick, or at least a DIY, fix? I don't really have the money to get it repaired, so I will have to live with earphones for a few months.

    Thank you!!!

  • (Centrelink/Newstart) Going overseas, have to go to a Centrelink office?

I'm currently receiving Newstart allowance and will be traveling overseas for a 3-week period. I informed Centrelink over the phone that I was going, knowing that I would have my payments suspended until I would return. The woman said something about having to go over to a Centrelink office the day before I go to inform them that I've told the call-centre that I'm going the very next day. When I asked why, she said something about reporting periods and receiving payments.

Perhaps someone in the know could tell me what this is about? I am completely aware that I am not receiving payments while I'm over there as I'm traveling for personal purposes... Do I still have to go to the Centrelink office? Why would I have to go (I originally thought it was just a call I had to make)?

    Thank you so much!

  • Is joining a Communist party still looked down upon?

So, I'm wanting to join the Communist Party of Australia, but I'm wondering if it's looked down upon in two areas: employment and international travel. I'm a politics graduate, so I'll probably be working for civil service, is my membership gonna be an issue? And I have a lot of family that have relocated to the States, will travelling over there be an issue if I'm a member?

    Thanks!

  • What happens if you accidentally viewed child porn in Australia?

On a mainstream website, I accidently saw outright child porn as well as sexually provocative images of children. I reported it both to the website I was on and the authorities (an online form). All well and good I guess. I then had a brainfart and went back to see if there was a single file that might make it easier for the authorities to view what sort of content was on there, as I was only able to link a small set of a large amount of disturbing images. There wasn't, so I didn't re-report it. Would I be arrested for accidently viewing child pornography, even after reporting it? I only gave my first name and my email address on the report (I didn't have time to do much else unfortunately). I'm in NSW (Australia), so if there's anyone in the know from that area, that would be good. No downloading was involved, just clicking on pictures and then finding... well, that.

    Thanks!

  • How long does T7 (LAX) customs/immigration take?

I'll be flying SYD-LAX-DEN in late November with United Airlines (the entire leg of the trip). The only available flights gave me an hour to arrive, go through customs, collect my baggage, etc. However, it'll all be on the same terminal, because UA have their own passport clearing/whatever else I need. Is it possible to get it done in under an hour? Thanks!

  • Where do I do customs (SYD-LAX-DEN.int'l)?

I'll be going from Sydney (Australia) to Denver CO in two months, and I'm wondering where I go through customs. I'm travelling with United Airlines for the entire trip, and I'll be arriving to Denver International Airport after going to LAX. While I would usually assume I do customs at LAX, I only have 1.5 hours from when I arrive in LAX to when I leave for DEN; the Travel Agent also mentioned I'd be just doing immigration at LAX, and having customs done when I get to Denver, as I'm going to the international section.

So, my question is, do I do customs at LAX or DEN? If I do it at LAX, do I need to take my luggage and have it re-checked? Are they two different things? It's driving me a little insane.

    Thanks!

  • [Australia] Scam Question: What do Electricity providers need to switch you over to them?

I was almost sent over to another Electricity provider through a door-to-door salesman who said he was with the electricity company I'm with now and offered a discount after I gave him information. I looked up my current provider's site while I was giving information to someone on the phone, when I found a warning to not deal with door to door people as they were with another company. I stopped immediately and had the salesman give me all the papers he had my information on (which I didn't sign) and he left.

Question is, is it legally enough for the scammers to switch me over to their company with the information I gave on the phone (name, address, phone number, pension card number, etc.) without me having signed anything?

    Thanks!

  • Can someone translate part of this video video into English (from Mandarin Chinese, I think)?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4gNRb_oiCc&feature...

    Just from 1:18 to 1:49

I'm trying to learn this method (known as the 3-1-2 meridian method); I've been able to piece it together from translated websites, and I think this is all I need.

    Thank you!

  • Are there non-Torah-Submissive Messianic Jews?

I'm curious: in many listings for Messianic Jewish/Believers' websites, there's usually a section for "Torah-Submissive/Observant" believers. Does that mean there are "non-Torah-Submissive/Observant" believers?

Anyone care to give me an example?

    Thank you!

  • Is there a denomination where you can read the Bible decide for yourself?

I would like to know if there are any denominations that allow the individual to read the Bible and decide what to believe for themselves, in terms of theology (whether Unitarian/Trinitarian, whether to continue with Baptism and Communion, whether Charismatic worship is useful etc.), or at least in terms of the "controversial" subjects (e.g. abortion and homosexuality).

I've come to the conclusion that my beliefs can differ from someone else's and there's no harm in that; so I want to see if there's a group of Christians who believe the same thing.

    Thank you!

  • Why do some people find me calling myself "straight acting" offensive?

So I go to this Queer rights group that I'm a part of, and someone asks me what I define myself as. I told them I'm gay with some bisexual tendencies, and that I'm straight acting (in more words) and they were taken aback enough to tell me to leave the group.

    What the fudge?

Why do people find ME calling MYSELF that offensive?

I mean, it's what I've been named; rather than just applying it to myself. I mean it in the way that my behaviour (i.e. actions) is typically considered what would socially be appropriate for straight men. That's just how I am, right, like it was never in my nature to be feminine. I don't think fem dudes are bad or nothing.

    So what's so offensive?

  • How would you deal with an immature/over-selfish friend?

Just before you read: if you don't want to read the detailed below, I basically just want a little advice what I should do about my supposedly best friend who's being overly immature and self centred, to a degree that I'm being very negatively affected by it; my sick mum wants to be sure I have her as a resource, and she's also been my best friend since I was 14.

To those who want to read the details, remember, it'll feel like I'm whinging.

Basically, my best friend started off being very mature when she was in highschool, but lately she's been very "ME ME ME" in a way. Mostly it's been just, that she'll want me to hang out with her when I've already made plans with my partner (which has been hard, considering he's been overseas for a few months). She also picks fights with me whenever I do something she doesn't like, and that's whenever I do something that isn't her way.

I guess that's not the issue: she admits she's selfish, and I'm selfish at times, as everyone is; but it's got to the point where it's affecting me badly, such as...

When my mother was in hospital and I was distraught (due to why she was in there and how far away she was), she promised to come and see me to get my mind off it. The day before, she said she was going to a party that night and wouldn't be able to see me until the night after, and only for about an hour, because she wanted to stay at that friend's place.

When I confronted her, instead of hearing "She was in a really bad way and needed me there, I didn't think you were that bad off, sorry" or something like that, I got "Well, you never hang out with me for that long because you talk to your partner everyday, so I'm teaching you a lesson by hanging out with her!" I do talk to my partner everyday because he's oversees for the next few months with family troubles; even then, I've been late to talk to him because I've been hanging out with her all morning, and have left early to hang out with her for the night. I've even not talked to him when my best friend needed me.

That's just one example. She's done more since then.

    What should I do?

    Thanks for any advice!

  • Buddhists: Taking refuge without a Dharma Teacher?

I know some Modern-Theravada websites have said that it's pertinent for some to take refuge in the Triple Gem (and become a Buddhist) by stating the proper prayers in front of a Buddha Image.

I'm wondering, are there any Mahayana Buddhist schools or groups, that allow for the individual Buddhist to do this taking refuge without a Dharma Teacher? Could you send me some links to these groups?

    Thanks!

  • Cat staying in one room, more or less in the same area?

For the past few weeks, my cat (about 13 years old, pure-bred Siamese) hasn't been moving out of this one room in the house. She more or less sits in either of two areas, one on a hard wood chair and the other on a lounge. But even when I take her out of the room, she goes right back.

What could this be? I haven't been able to take her to the vet; but there hasn't been anything, apart from her not wanting to move, that has really set off any alarms: it looks like she's been eating and drinking OK (possibly eating less, but whenever I put food in front of her she eats it), she's been sleeping roughly the same amount, she's not weak or limp when I pick her up, and she gets up to go to the toilet. Weight I'm not too sure about, but it doesn't look like she's lost or put on any weight.

If it helps, for the past several years, she's been vomiting very regularly, but the vet doesn't seem to think there's anything behind it (originally she thought it could be cat AIDS or leukaemia, but she must have ruled those out).

Thank you VERY much for your help!

  • Would you think this is homophobic?

I was addressing a group of about 8 friends (predominantly an LGBT group) about what I think about the gay community, as a Baha'i (religion).

I said to them that, being a member of a Baha'i community that accepts same-sex relationships, I would hope to see the day when the LGBT community was at one with the Straight community; where the need for a LGBT community was none, and where no gay person saw themselves different from a straight person, and where no straight person saw themselves different from a gay person.

After I told them that, one in particular said I sounded like I wanted to convert the gay population (which I don't) and only one didn't start calling me homophobic. I guess this was before I introduced them to my boyfriend (and yes, I'm a dude), but do you guys think this is homophobic in any way?

I wanna know what I said that set them off.

  • Germanic Neopaganism/Asatru and gays?

Can someone tell me how Germanic Neopaganism/Asatru, by group or majority, considers homosexuality? I've heard that it's both accepting and really homophobic... does it depend on the "type" of Asatru (like Odinism, Theodism, etc.) that is in question?

Some sort of guide for this would be good for me!

    Thanks heaps!

  • "Reform" Messianic Judaism?

Are there any Reform Messianic Jewish groups? By this, I mean are there Messianic Groups with similar liberal beliefs as North American Reform Judaism?

I'm curious about the whole thing, I mean I would think there's been some interrelation with MJs and RJs, with RJs converting to MJism or something. Let me know.

Be PERTINENT. I don't care if you make a joke answer, just don't have a stupid spiel about how MJs are wrong or whatever. You WILL be reported if you do!

    Thanks!
