Is joining a Communist party still looked down upon?

So, I'm wanting to join the Communist Party of Australia, but I'm wondering if it's looked down upon in two areas: employment and international travel. I'm a politics graduate, so I'll probably be working for civil service, is my membership gonna be an issue? And I have a lot of family that have relocated to the States, will travelling over there be an issue if I'm a member?

Thanks!

There's no reason why you have to tell anyone your political party if you don't want to.

Since you won't be voting in the US, no one will ever ask.

if you do choose to tell people, some will insult you or be afraid of you, because they've been taught to do so.

    Most people don't care.

I know many communists, in the US.

You'll be welcomed at the white house if you do that.

Edit: the time frame at the white house is running out: Jan 20, 2013 will be the last opportunity you have to get to see the potus. His time is up. There is nothing eternal over that its a fact Jack.

So you want Australia to be like North Korea or Cuba? Or do think you are smart enough to make something work that has failed every other time it has been tried? I have pity for the mentally handicapped but I don't look down on them.

In Communism the state owns everything.

Kind of like Wall St. here.

    Not my cup of tea.
