Recommend a good ballet forum?

My 23 year old daughter is a ballet dancer since 5. She is trying to find a better pointe shoe, but we can't afford to order shoes on spec as it were, and the only local shop is a small one without a lot of variety of shoes. We'd like to find a good forum where we can get feedback and recommendations from other dancers about various shoes.

Update:

She's been wearing Sansha 202s for years. She just got a pair of Sansha Etudes, and really likes the low vamp, and the arched sole, but the heel won't stay on. We've been ordering from Discount Dance and also Dancewear Solutions for years. She looked thru the catalogs - what does tapered heel mean? What kind of heel does she need?

Update 2:

btw, she has good feet (per her instructors)

The best ballet forum on the internet is "Ballet Talk for Dancers":

    http://dancers.invisionzone.com/index.php?

It's free and safe to join and all the sections are moderated by professional dancers and teachers. There is an entire sub-forum for "Pointe Shoe Topics."

Source(s): My daughter is a professional dancer and, as her non-dancing mom, the information I received from BT4D was invaluable in helping me guide her training.

Major in dance. This will be in the Fine Arts School in a university. Most universities will give you a rounded dance education, with classes in ballet and modern. Jazz is often an elective class, required only for musical theater majors. If you want to be a teacher, I recommend going to a university where there is a strong education component or an option to get teacher certification.

I'm a dancer since 5 as well and I used to work part-time in a dance shop. So I know a lot about shoes.

Tell me: What kind of shoe is she currently using?

If she needs a hard shank and hard box: anything by Grishko. I love the Grishko 2007.

Soft shank, hard box: Bloch is great.

Soft Shank, soft box: Eh, not a good foot. But Gaynor Minden can help with people who have flat arches and need much support.

www.discountdance.com has a list of pointe shoes with extensive descriptions.
