Pagan religions are usually very tolerant, because they're polytheistic.

Monotheism is inherently intolerant, because as soon as you have the idea of "only one true god" then you regard all the Gods of the other religions as "false" gods, or even vilify them as "demons" as the Christians did to the earlier pagan Gods and Goddesses.

Of hundreds of religions on Earth, almost all of the aggression and oppression has come from just two: Christianity and Islam. And they're both monotheistic. Judaism is not that aggressive because it's a tribal religion; there is not much interest in "converting" people to Judaism, so they leave people of other religions alone.

Atheists can be as intolerant as monotheists or even more so. Because they regard all Gods as "false" while monotheists regard almost all Gods as "false."

Hinduism is a good example of how tolerant polytheistic pagan religions can be. When Christians would try to proselytize in India, what they found is that Hindus would often happily accept Jesus -- and then add his statue on their altar, right next to all of their other Gods.

Buddhism is not the best example of a tolerant religion, because it's mostly an atheist religion. Except for Tibetan Buddhism, there is not much respect for the Gods in Buddhism. Also, Buddhism is an evangelical religion -- meaning that it actively seeks to convert people to the faith. That is how Buddhism spread so far and wide. It's mostly a nonviolent religion; but it is still aggressive in trying to spread its ideas all over the world. Devout Buddhists believe that their religion is the one true path for everyone. That idea does not really go along with a joyful celebration of religious diversity.

Pagan religions, on the other hand, revel in religious diversity. Pagans welcome a myriad of different Gods, and religious beliefs and practices. That kind of respect and celebration of diversity is true religious tolerance.

True religious diversity means: Many Gods.

Not sure cos there might be some religion of the past that is not known to the current age yet and some are little too secretive to know its philosophy and religious facts are distorted/misinterpreted and some have multiple denominations that have different teachings

but if you were to ask which religion in this time of the day that is widely and still practiced which teaches it's followers to be tolerant of others and produces the most tolerant followers?

I would go with either Hinduism or Buddhism but the latter is more of a philosophy rather than a religion so arguably, i would say its Hinduism (although some would argue its a "way of life" rather than a religion )

the Second Question is tough as it could go with some "pagan" religions and hinduism *note pagan is a loose term

PS: You didn't really state what you meant by "tolerant" so i assume you meant that the religion is peaceful and tolerant of other religions

Most pagans, as well as Buddhists, Hindus, and Mormons. But I can't just say that the whole group of followers are tolerant, because in every religion there are radicals.

Maybe Wicca. It seems a very peaceful and accepting religion. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean anything about its followers.

And also, I'm probably biased because its teachings are eerily similar to my actual beliefs or guesses about the Universe, but I think Buddhism is a very nice religion/philosophy. And it says sensible things, like to not accept arguments from authority.

    Tolerant of what?

I mean seriously. Tolerant of people smearing things on the walls? Tolerant of anything?? Why do you imply that that is a good thing? It isn't. Your question makes me think you aren't tolerant of religion, but you seem to be accusing religious people of not being tolerant. What do you suppose you will get out of any answer?

I may be reading this wrong, but I'm just saying... think about yourself.

That my friend,is a question that no one that can truly answer. That would take some time to study. An opinion on this will surly drip with prejudice.

....but I tell you,Im noticing that Atheists seem to be the least intolerant and the most aggressive of the people Ive come across. Its kind of ironic considering their main complaint about religion.I mean about them being down their throat, not the argument that they are the stupid ones-which usually takes centerstage.

No religion is tolerant. They all have some eternal "FU*K YOU!" that will kill you if you don't follow their rules to the T.

Christians -- Hell ------- don't believe us? Burn forever

Buddhists and Reincarnation believers ---- Don't believe us or follow our teachings, you will die and come back as a cockroach.

Islamic etc ---- Don't believe us and you will miss out on your virgins and god's favor. And hell... rofl.

Its all a scam to make you scared and get you to follow them.

The only Truly tolerant belief is agnostic.

Agnostic = we don't have the answers, we don't need the answers, and we will not threaten to kill you and your family if you don't believe what we believe.

    Probably Buddhism.

I've never heard of a Buddhist setting off bombs or cutting people's heads off.
