How can we end world hunger?

How can we end world hunger while we keep legislating food sources away? We pay farmers to not produce crops in order to keep the price of the crops high. We place bans of all sorts of fish, birds, and anything else that someone deems at risk. We turn corn into fuel (and not even a very efficient fuel at that) to jack the price up on corn even more. It seems that we are doing everything possible to ensure there is a food shortage.

I am starting to think I am going crazy. I feel like I am becoming one of those conspiracy nuts.

Our economy is in the tank and unemployment is up, but it doesn't really effect our government because most of those people now unemployed never paid taxes anyway. The real tax payers haven't missed a step. It is like a big joke on middle america. They go off and have these hearings on capital hill and talk smack to these top level executives yet nothing ever really changes. The executives turn around and hold a fund raiser and get some new tax break and they are all friends again. Meanwhile Obama says the economy is getting better and everything is going to be fine yet people are still loosing houses and more and more people are getting on welfare. Then they are caught. Our government doesn't give a darn about the economy because they are still collecting taxes from the top tax payers.

Our whole system seems to be a house of cards one lie built on another.

So how can we really expect to feed the hungry?

let people learn to do for themselves! I don't need a Liberal whine. Through many generations and Civilizations people have done it. Without a Government handout! This is how we have survived as a race (Human Race) since the beginning of time!

I get a thumbs down from a member of the welfare generation, whose family has passed this down like it's a business.

Actually, the price of corn is minuscule because the government gives people huge amounts of money to grow it (which is why dollar menus at fast food joints are possible). This money is gobbled up by the corporate CEOs, leaving the farmers struggling to support themselves.

If the government subsidized corn (or hell, maybe something else) that wouldn't just be chemically ripped apart and crammed into the foods making us increasingly obese and instead subsidized only foods that would feed us, and others, in a more healthy way, maybe we'd be on to something.

Maybe it would also be beneficial to encourage surplus farming by granting money to actual farmers instead of handing over millions to big corn CEOs so they can buy their kids another island in the Bahamas.

How can we end world hunger? Decrease the number of the world population to 3 billion rather than 6.8 billion. Keep the ones that are working and sustaining the economy and euthanise the rest. Sounds like something Hitler would propose, but is the only simple way. By the way, that is only to be based on money, income and production, not looks, race, religion, nationality, gender nor age.

Stop feeding the poor all the time when we give the food away the farmers go under .Than all lose interest and there are no farmers and there is not enough food.As for us here stop all the subsidy's on farms grossing over 3 million after that it's a corporate farm.

Firstly I would adopt, what the Chinese call, a nuclear family policy. Then I would give over infrastructure, occupied by manufacturing, to horticulture. If I am not dead after the first two goals, then I might be the greatest revolutionist known. It really can be achieved, it's merely a matter of allocating resources and stifilling greed.

Stop using third world countries as vegetable gardens and let them SELL the produce to the first world instead of working like slaves. Also put American and European farmers back to work.

Zeve - What the hell is wrong with you? You do know that investment bankers and bankers in general won't be needed in your proposed utopia of workers right?

From a global perspective, feeding cultures that cannot feed themselves only perpetuates & compounds the problem. They continue to breed more people that cannot feed themselves.

When we send them food, we are actually making the problem worse, not better.

I was told that we can't without turning people into entitlement bums so I think we need to start a mass production of whips and play the game of thinking with your dip stick...
