How can I tell my doctor that I am afraid that my pap smear will induce flashbacks of childhood sexual abuse?

Or should I just avoid him until its too late?!

You tell your doctor straight up that you're afraid your pap will induce flashbacks of childhood sexual abuse. Honestly, if you don't trust your doctor enough to tell him/her that, why in the world are you seeing him/her? Good doctors are sensitive to such possibilities and will take extra care when examining you. If your doctor minimizes your concerns, run, do not walk, to another doctor.

You could ask for a female doctor, if that would help any... Thats just one of my personal prefences anyhow. you could have someone in there with you to hold your hand. When the doctor is down there taking their swab sample, they talk to you the whole time to make sure your doing ok. Its so quick. hope it goes good <3
