The University of Hertfordshire have a great astrophysics department, or Exeter, Southampton, Leicester,Manchester,Leeds,Liverpool,Cardiff,Belfast, Durham, Wawick and Kent are all worth a look.

Well, you have to be brilliant to become an astrophysis (ie smartest in the area) and even at that, there are limited jobs which go to the highest acedemic standards, and highest reputations. Maybe astronomy would be better? But however, if you are willing to become one, the best universities to go to are in america (ie the ivy league) but oxford is known for its high physic standards

i know its not in the UK but NUI maynooth in ireland offers a brilliant astrophysics course. it isnt excessively hard to get into cos even if u arent accepted straight away you can do general science for first year and then transfer for second year on. ireland is pretty close and its cheap to travel to from england
