bathroom vents required? in 1976 built house in Ontario Canada?

Hi,

Just need to know if vents are needed in two piece bathrooms by the building code of 1975? There are no baths or showers in the rooms, just a toilet and sink. The house is in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada.

We are selling the house, and the other side real estate says they are needed. I say that the house does not have to live up to the new Building code as it only needs to comply with the 1975 building code. Also, I do not believe the code of 1975 says you have to have vents in two piece bathrooms.

thank you.

Can`t find the exact wording, But I believe a vent fan is only needed if one of the 2 pieces is a shower or tub, not for a toilet or sink and only in a new or upgraded room. Not in a pre existing build. Especially if its 25 yrs old. Don`t think it was even code back then. Check with your city hall building dept.
