I'm not sure if glad is the adjective that I would use but still. I grew up with a christian influence but now that I'm older I've decided that I'm not going to follow a religion; I'm still looking into all the different viewpoints about how we came to be. One of the things that bothers me about christianity is the love out of fear policy that a lot of people seem to be happy with, I can't be a part of that. To answer your question, I'd say that I am content with my decision to discontinue following christianity.

People judge Catholics based on other Catholics they meet or here about. But if you dont follow
Do not Kill
Do not Steal
Do not commit audultery
Honor your Mother and Father
Thats not a Catholic thats turning away from Catholicism
I was taught as a child that I was actually confessing to God, the priest was there sort of like a phone operator to connect me to God and relay to me God's absolution. I always walked into that confessional feeling a bit uneasy, and always walked out feeling like I had a new lease on life. I still confess my faults and shortcomings to a select few confidants, but haven't been to a Catholic confessional in years. Confessing something to God is a good start, but getting some feedback from somebody you trust and has good advice is of incalculable value. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think that you have to be a Catholic to go to confession. Some people might disagree on that, but I'm sure you could find a priest that would listen to you if you aren't a Catholic. I shopped around until I found one I liked. Look at all the people who pay thousands of dollars to talk to psychologists, therapists, and counselors. Look at all the people going onto Jerry Springer and confessing. I've gotten some very good advice from priests and it didn't cost me a cent. Admitting it to God is one thing, admitting it to another human being, and especially hearing it from your own mouth is quite another. I highly recommend it.
Many insult the Catholic Church for Praying to Saints and say we dont Pray to Jesus. not true.
We do Pray to Jesus and we pray to Saints asking that they deliver our prayers onto Jesus.
Also others insult the Catholic Church saying Catholics dont read a Bible "not true also". Every Catholic I know has a Bible plus we follow the Sunday Missal each day at Mass. The Sunday Missal contains the prayers, readings Gospels, said each day at Mass. These readings and Gospels are taken quote "from the Bible".
For more info on a Missal go to www.sundaymissalservice.com .
I often say to those who insult and I can say the same to anyone with a thumbs down on this messege, "I dont care what religion you are , Luthern, Christian, etc. Isnt it a SIN to be insulting others for believing in the Lord or any of his Saints? Amen
Amen

From some catholics in my english class I recently learned of this thing where you have to kneel for three hours praising Jesus.
Stuff like that makes me glad I'm atheist.

Here's what's on my mind: you sound crazy.
But yes; I'm glad I'm not a Christian. They seem to spend their entire lives angry, and obsessed with things that don't matter.

I find it amusing when a xtian seems proud of being one. I always wonder why being completely unaware of the world around you would not be embarrassing.

I'm happy I'm not religious. And I'm happy that I have a Lord that loves me beyond knowledge. And he isn't a mere man. THAT wouldn't be much of a lord, would it now?
