Should I see my doctor about my cold/tonsil stones?

I recently acquired a cold, and it probably didn't help by my going out drinking last night. But my tonsils are huge! I feel like I should have a hard time breathing with them being this large.

Oh and last week I had some nasty tonsil stones... bleh

Would you go to the doctor?

I mean it is a sore throat, but are the tonsil stones a sign that it's worse than a cold or something like that?

I wouldn't see a doctor. Tonsil stones are not serious. You probably only have them because of your cold.....they are gross though. I would google how to get rid of them & if that doesn't work, you can try this site:

I am Dr Prateek Nayak . I am a Consultant in ENT and Head and Neck Surgery practising in Bangalore ,India.

regarding whether you need a tonsillectomy:

it depends on how frequently you get throat infection, the size of the tonsils and if it is hampering your breathing [ it can produce OSA or obstructive sleep apnoea]

Tonsillar stones or tonsillolith as they are called medically often have to be removed

Meet your local ENT to discuss the options of treatment
