Tough call.
It's tough because they are both VERY good, so whatever you choose, it's a good choice.
But there are a few things that should help you decide -
First - Most obviously: One has 4 doors. The other 2. Performance wise - either is going to be very good. The SS will out handle SRT-8 but not by much. But if you plan on driving around with friends a lot, a 4 door is soooo much nicer. It's such a pain to get people into and out of back seats. Or when you, the driver want to drop off or pick up that 4th person, you have to get out and back in and... ugh annoying and slow. Having 4 doors is much nicer for everyone.
But - 4 doors - kinda lame compared with 2. Two doors are sexy, sleeker.. just cooler. And if it's mostly just you or you and 1 friend - it's perfect. Sure you can take a couple extra folks in a pinch. Handy, but mostly it's you and/or you and a buddy cruising.
Another thing is image. Even among car guys, Chrysler is viewed with a bit of a tarnished image. That's not just my opinion. Ask around. Mopar guys are hard core, don't get me wrong. Some folks will appreciate the SRT-8 a lot. But if you're looking for popularity, I don't think the SRT-8 can beat the SS - especially because the SRT-8 is getting a little long in the tooth - due for an update.
On the other hand, the SS is going to be popular and the SRT-8 may stop being produced. Chrysler might stop making Chargers all together - and then you'd have a unique piece (if you keep it long enough). So if you like exclusivity - see how many SRTs and SS's are expected to be made over the next 2-4 years. That might tip it in favor of the SRT.
Can't tell you which one to get, but hopefully, that's enough food for thought to help.

From the styling perspective, Camaro looks better but when I drove it I felt a bit claustrophobic. The design over function theme with low windows, tiny trunk, and huge rear pillars create a lot of blind spots. It was challenging to change lanes.
The Charger looks and drives awesome, I had a chance to rent one for a couple of days and truly enjoyed the experience. It is also a lot more roomier, with more trunk space, and mean styling in a good sense. I would be concerned about the long term reliability though.
Did you get a chance to test drive Ford Mustang GT? Maybe you will like that one better.
Good luck

Honestly I would say the Charger SRT-8, because it has more HP and I think the looks are better. The Charger to me seems more like a muscle car, the camaro seems more like a sport car.
