What Game/Anime is this from?
I recall watching/reading/playing something about a year ago, and there was a girl that was about to sacrifice herself for something/someone (don't know what).
I think she was crying(or about to cry), since a guy comes up and says something along the lines of "If you're going to die do it with a smile on your face"
I can't remember anything else about it :/

If the girl has green hair and named C.C and the guy has black hair and named Lelouch then its probably Code Geass. In my opinion it is the best anime ever but then again its only my opinion.
The quote "If you're going to die do it with a smile on your face" is the main giveaway as it to being Code Geass. Specifically, I think it is Code Geass R2: Turn 15 or 16.
