We do have unity in Diversity if we ignore few bastards. This joke is slap on the face of some regional and religious fanaticist.

I am an Indian. This is the only my identity.

I am proud to be an Indian.

This is not a joke buddy. This is purely (shouted) imagination. We are far better than what is projected. The fact " India is huge and vast" is not understood by many foreigners and some Indians as well.

Sometimes my friends from other countries use to ask how to say "hello" in Indian. Then I have to explain it about the different languages, mostly they get astonished.

It is a sub continent where we have different cultures, races, religions and ethnicity. There is nothing wrong in saying your state, and nobody will say it to a foreigner the fact he may not understand. But the point is to a fellow Indian, to identify yourself you can comfortably tell your state and religion as long as it is in a good sense. India is the largest democracy, the type of media coverage and connectivity which we have now, the so called anti national politicians are kept at vigil all time. So we should not panic and start fighting .

Jai hind. East or West , India is the Best.

    Proud to be an Indian.

This serious JOKE, shows that this INDIAN garden is made up of Varied plants for different tastes.

Where will you find such diverse Cultures based on variegated Climate and Geography.

But philosophy was Uniquely similar until wooed by FOREIGN economy filled with Desire.

This we consider as MAYA which spoils the Soul, the amaranthine force to carry on.

Lets learn from the innumerable Saints of India and not get diverted, so to have a Heaven here.

Organizing Indian states on linguistic basis might have been the need of the hour in 1947, but....its high time Indian states were re-organized along latitudes and longitudes as administrative divisions.

    It'll solve all problems :

    kashmir

    demands for new states :

    telangana

    vidarbha etc etc

riots against states : biharis Vs assamese

    biharis Vs marathis

    goans Vs kannadigas

    Fights among states over water/rivers

    education standardization

vote bank politics by the likes of raj thackeray

    :

    :

    :

But will the politicians ever agree ? Will the people FORCE the politicians to do it ......(or just gripe on y!a about it )

Source(s): Did you cast your vote ?

Yes, it has become so and is becoming more so, unfortunately and yet it is easy to feel united as deep within us something eternal called India is settled, we can tap it,be it, if only the people who practice divisiveness in this country(like politicians and religious leaders) realize and do.

(A friend tells me other day that even now if a non-Kashmiri goes to Kashmir, he is called 'o, he is from India'!)

I agree with you, I have met people who say this, their primary identity is their native place...not country. It will take time, I guess one cannot blame so much because India is a VERY DIVERSE country, people speak different languages, eat different foods, have different customs celebrate different holidays and wear different clothes from each region so this is a huge part of their identity. I think we should be proud that we managed to unite as one country, where else can you see this much diversity??? I think if an outsider asks then we should say Indian first but within ourselves its ok to identify ourselves according to our native place. I was born outside of India and always tell people my family is from India...I don't bother with the rest unless they ask further.

Don't call it a joke. It is a serious problem we are facing and really need a solution to it.

I received this on my email id few days back and forwarded it to all I knew. Thats what I advice you to do and request those to whom you send it to forward it to their friends. Atleast some will understand.

I AM PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN. I LOVE MY INDIA.

That is grave REALITY, expressed by an unbiased neutral observer as a recent visitor who has no emotional attachment with Indian land which affects the judgement. Once late Minoo Masani said that Indian unity is a FORCED one. Dalit Voice too wrote so in 90s. Sangh Parivar's terrorist mentality made them so out of insecurity feeling. If you go back to read history, India was much more diversified, hetrogeneous & contradictory in cultures having nothing in common before Akbar The Great made a big united nation out of a crowd as engraved in front of his massive tomb of one square km made of red sandstone at Sikandra near Agra. Today's condition is much better than that time. Cultural evolution to have uniformity in everything takes centuries or thousands of years. Only Kazakhistan is the nation having 100 % Muslims, all looking alike & two languages are spoken Kazakh & Urdu. Bangladesh is the only nation having only one language. India was always a highly diversified land in the past.
