ick outbreak in my tank?

i (stupidly) bought two fish from Petco, who i noticed had ick the minute i brought them home. I started treating the tank immediately, removed the carbon in the filter, etc.

after a week of treatment, the fish seemed to have recovered, so i did a 1/3 water change, and things were fine -- for three days.

Now, two of my fish are acting sick - one is on his way out, and i'm sure he'll be dead by the end of the day. Two "sick" ones don't have noticeable ick, but three others do. It's like a nightmare; however, i only have eight fish in the tank. It's a bow-front 10 gallon tank, so can't hold many fish.

I have turned the light off in the aquarium and put a towel over it to reduce stress. I dont know if this will help, but thought it was worth a try.

I'm treating the tank with Pimafix.

I was wondering if anyone had advice for me, besides never to buy fish from Petco.

thank you

Update:

additional details because of Mikentab's response--

yes, i have a vacuum for the tank. is a tank cleaning/vaccing adviseable now?

yes, i treated the water i added to the tank

the fish do have the white "ick" on them... one has a visible film of it all over her body, another has areas which are really noticeable, like above his eye for example.

And also, the Pimafix i'm using to treat the tank is for fungus issues, according to package directions (1 teaspoon per 10 gallons of water)

thank you

Ich is not a film all over the fish, it is a parasite that looks like small grains of salt on the fish's fins and body. Pimafix does not cure ich.

What you could be seeing might be columnaris. It is deadly if not medicated right away. Go back to the pet store and tell them the syptoms. Take a digital picture if you can and show it to them. They can advise you on the best medication for the disease.

Here is a site that gives good info on the disease. It has some pictures of infected fish that you can compare to yours and see if they look similar. Read the whole article, it is very good and will give you knowledge the average aquarist does not have.

Do they still look as though they have ick, are there physical signs you can see. Is it possible you over treated the tank? Did you move the rocks or do you have a vaccuum for the rocks? IS it possible that there is a fungus problem?Did you remember the water treatment when changing the water? Perhaps the fish had more then just ick... I'd really have to see the tank to be honest but these are just questions off the top of my head.lol

It seems such as you have tropical fish, am I appropriate? How extreme is your warmth suitable now? i could attempt turning up the warmth slowly (some tiers interior the morning, some interior the evening over some days) to a max of roughly 86-88 tiers. Your fish would additionally funds in on some aquarium salt; dissolve a million teaspoon in line with gallon and upload that to the water. the warmth will speed up the lifespan of the Ich, and it particularly is going to die faster. The salt will help your fish combat off an infection. If this would not help sufficient for you after some days of medical care, you may look into the different chemical Ich remedies. i think of Mardel and Maracyn have Ich medical care products that folk could swear via.
