Nick is non musical; he is not a committed romantic like Gatsby; he is not a siren with a siren's call like Daisy is for Gatsby; he is not a swaggering braggart and egotist like Tom, or a dummy like George Wilson. He is sensible and mediates between these extremes. He is a disc jockey, an introducer, not performer. Maybe you can use that for your project.
