A question for people who believe in God?
Do you also believe in the possibility of extraterrestrial life? Just wondering because I was having a discussion about this with my mom whose a Christian and she said the idea was upsurd, but then got mad when I told her that basically God and the angels are extraterrestrials and if she believes in them, then she can't deny the possibility of beings existing that live outside our world.
I just think that believing God created humans and the Earth, then stopped creating anything else sounds a bit... oh I dunno, arrogant. I mean really the universe is huge, it's like someone getting 20 acres of land and only planting one seed on the whole thing or someone having a big blank canvas and only putting a drop of paint on it. Makes no sense logically or scientifically.

An excellent thought provoking question. what do you mean by extraterrestrial life ? First you should not come to conclusion about it. you should not firm on it. It depends what you mean by extraterrestrial. It means not of/from the Earth. If God created the Earth then he isnt from the Earth.
God by definition is a deity, not an alien life-form from another planet. There is no telling if they didnt bring the religions from their own world and the Creation in Genesis could have happened on another planet and it make the deity any less real, or the events just in the earth not.
The God is a form of life that bestowed life to the earth, why we then to consider him our creator. He created life on earth, so he is the creator. The God is not an extraterrestrial and there is a segment of people who would actually try to have you believe that. I don't think God himself would be an extraterrestrial, but rather that the ancient peoples confused God with extraterrestrials. yes, this is called a wise man act. we learned only handful, mind it that we have to learn mountain level. Having handful knowledge with us, we play cleverly saying yes is a no and no is a yes.
The Greeks had Mt Olympus and the gods. People talk about heaven, and angels from the sky.... performing miracles. Imagine a cave man witnessing a jet fighter, ir modern medicine, or just a simple hand BIC lighter, then we would be gods to him. Our recorded history really only starts around 4000bc. There are thousands of years before this that man could have evolved with alien tech and destroyed itself or was destroyed. who knows all these ?
There have been many stories of ancient people being in contact with aliens, and when they asked where they came from, they pointed to the stars. We interpreted this as Gods, but isnt it more likely they meant from another solar system? its up to each one to believe what they want... as long as they think for themselfs. I have never been a fan of group pressure.
So there is extraterrestrial life! There are intelligent forms of life in the universe other than human life on earth! It is not the Buck Rogers, Star Wars, E.T. or Chariots of the Gods type science fiction. Extraterrestrial life consists of hundreds of millions of angels, seraphim, cherubim, and at God’s throne a variety of spirit beings.
Finally, throngs have seen such movies as E.T. — The Extraterrestrial and Star Wars. People are intrigued by futurist movies and wonder if someday there will indeed be Star Wars with beings from other planets. What Has Been Discovered So Far?
Efforts to contact life beyond our planet have, up to now, yielded nothing. We have been able to send manned spacecraft into earth’s orbit. We have been able to send men to the moon and return them safely. Every effort of the various space programs has so far demonstrated no form of physical life exists, or ever did, other than our own life on planet Earth.
hope this will help you and thanks for the opportunity !!!

I can see your train of thought on this and think that you have a point. It was probably the way you described God and Angels as "extraterrestrials" that she didn't like. But putting that description aside I am with you on this one. You can neither prove nor disprove the existence of extraterrestrials nor can you prove nor disprove the existence of God and Angels.
I think you have done very well in your thought with this.
I do believe in God and as for extraterrestrials, well I have an open mind. But I think that they may very well exist, I can't deny their existence because I don't know and can't prove otherwise.
There is so much that mankind does not understand or know. It would be naive not to consider the possibility of other life forms. We are not the only planet and space as far as we know is infinite there maybe life somewhere but we are just not capable of reaching it or even recognising it as a life form.
A really good argument well done!

That is not Biblically sound doctrine. The Bible states all kind of angels that I'm sure look alien, but tells what will take place in the world. Read Revelations. Jesus rules for a millennium, the devil has a short time to try to tempt people away from God, but then is cast into Hell forever. After that God will restore the earth and create a new heaven and people will be with Him for eternity. It pretty much tells you what is going to happen. Forget aliens, God is the most amazing thing you could never fully grasp. His amazingness beats the heck out aliens.

- Catholic -
The Catholic church does not pigeon hold or limit God. Therefore they hold that life outside of our own planet is possible.
The Vatican maintains an Observatory in So. California.
They believe that IF extraterrestrial life exists.. then God would have also appeared to them as well and they are as much "children of God' as we are.

Yes - the odds seem probable that there is life outside of Earth.

There's no reference , pro or con, in the book about whether or not we are the only life He created. I believe in UFOs , but I ssupect that they are demons , more than I think that they are from a different planet

There's absolutely no way there CAN'T be aliens... it's like, impossible! we can't be the only life in all of the universe... I mean really, there's even a possibility of life on mars *doubt it* so how can we doupt that there's not life out there? Even if it's just bacteria or a bug of some sort, THERE'S LIFE OUT THERE.
