Every day I hear someone say, "I would DIE without my cell phone!" Going by that logic, there would be much more room for those of us who enjoy the planet the way it was meant to be. For me, that would be like I was getting my real life back.
Modern so-called 'technology' is the brain-child of science. And that technology has destroyed society. Not one person can prove to me that it is not true. I don't know if any one 'thing' will be the doom of humans such as nuclear war, asteroids hitting the earth, or phenomenal natural disasters. Humans themselves are doing it every day in their 'push' for new technology. It's just a matter of time before the 'computer chip' crashes.

It would radically change the world. If technology ceases to exist, progress will also cease. The two have a direct correlation. I would feel helpless. I'm a member of the Digital Natives having been born in 1992 and is what i was born into. There would be feelings of withdrawal. However, it is true that we have detached ourselves from the natural way of life, which is one of the consequences of technology and progress. We should also keep in mind that technology is simply a result of fossil fuels and natural gases which is the main component that is the catalyst of economic progression. Current alternative fuel sources rely on oil to be made. Debate remains of whether oil is abiotic and infinite or simply the remains of past organisms that we are now using and are finite. If the latter holds true, then technology will eventually stall in the near future. If not, then we are at the tip of the iceberg of the many technologies to come.
Going back to the question, it would be catastrophic if technology and the system we are used to ceased to exist. It also depends on your outlook. If you are more conservative, you fear change while it is opposite for the other end of the spectrum. Todays generation of kids would take the biggest impact, though.

Honestly, it is very difficult to seperate technology and humans from each other. My technology teacher defines technology as the use of man-made tools to improve our lives. He says the only way we can really escape technology is to stand in the middle of a forest, butt-naked, and not do anything. Lol XD However, the way I suppose you mean it, I think many people would have difficulty surviving because of the dependence we have developed on it. Personally... I like to think I would grow a garden. :D I might have trouble without a hose...

This world would be lost. I guarantee you half the teens who send emails have never written a letter by hand.
