If you were offered true and absolute freedom, would you accept?

I think many wouldn't.

Update:

I mean the elimination of everything that we allow to chain us. That means technology, ideologies, and the very sense of self that you have crafted within.

TRUE freedom. Consequence is nature and very much a part of freedom. You are free to do as you wish and you consequently are free to reap the consequences of that freedom.

To get the absolute freedom you define you would need to remove yourself from others because they would restrict your freedom. This is only possible in the short term. In the long term you need others or you would die. Once you deal with one other person your freedom as described is gone.

A world where true and absolute freedom is granted can result to a dangerous place to be. Unfortunately, some people will most definitely take advantage of this kind of predicament. Personally, I would but I can admit to feeling a bit guilty and somewhat odd to admit this selfish answer. I agree with what someone else answered above, if there were no consequences, then yes. I would accept the offer to true and absolute freedom. It can work out like sort of having Diplomatic Immunity (which I am against by the way! LOL) Oh my conscience annoys me so!

Do you think absolute freedom to do anything you want with no consequences? If so, I'd take it. But I doubt my behavior would change that much. Perhaps I'd go through red lights at intersections when there are no other cars around. It's very annoying to sit there and wait when there are no cars in any of the other lanes. The problem is, a lot of people, if they had the freedom to act with no consequences, would probably not be people you'd want having that kind of freedom.

If copyright laws were removed as part of that I might accept. I think copyrights and advertisements rob people of humanity. An example can be found in the copyrighting of fairy tale and action books.

Fantasy is something people reject yet copyright on books by L. Sprague de Camp for example For other freedom only if the people would enjoy

the things they might do to each other if they had true freedom.

For example if Yahoo answers had a soap box and a Freedom of Speech policy.

More can be found in The Merchant Ivory film Savages. It hints at what people might be like.

The film is satire but raises a good point.

Source(s): Savages a Merchant Ivory film, Stony Man books, and Terror Files, Irish Fairy tales inside cover, me.

How is that freedom? Sounds like a bunch of nonsense. Freedom is the most overused bullshait word in the American dictionary.

I don't really understand the concept of total and utter freedom.

No instincts, literally deciding every single action to take, sounds exhausting.
