If Christianity is totally against pagans and their practices...?

..then why is almost every rituals and holidays originate from pagan worship? Wasn't it their sole purpose to destroy the customs and traditions of paganism, not to adopt and fulfill it?

Update:

Mirror twin: "It isn't totally against it..."

Your answer just validated my question...you agree that Christians are NOT totally against the practices of paganism. Again, my question is... "Why?"

Update 2:

Islam has nothing paganism in it. That is why Islam eradicated the Quraish from pagan worship, and to only recognize only one god, the God of Abraham.

Update 3:

I am not trying to have a religious bout....I just want to get an understanding on why many of Christians don't know this.

Every religion adopts pagan elements and incorporates them into doctrine - Islam is a good example of this.

Some traditions might look similar. For example during the shrovetide week orthodox christians eat pancakes as well as atheists celebrating Maslenitsa - an ancient Slavic pagan holiday. But for christians it's not a holiday, it's preparation for the Great lent and this week is dedicated to the Last Judgment, meat can't be eaten. In fact christianity and paganism have nothing in common as paganism is hidden satanism. Atheists can't see this as without faith people can't tell truth from lies.

Because most Christians are ignorant and hypocritical. Notice I said most. Don't freak out. But, then again, most of the Christians who would get upset about this ARE the ignorant and hypocritical ones . . .

Christians want to say that they do everything Jesus would do, but right after he died, everything went to pot. No one actually followed his word and it's just progressed over time.

Christians think that since they practice some pagan rituals (like Christmas in December even though Jesus is thought to have been born sometime in the summer, and the Christmas tree) it's okay. For Pagans to practice rituals in the original manner is just . . . evil.

And to Mirror twin, people like you are the reason the vast majority of the world hate Christians :D

Source(s): Guess what, I was raised Christian! And I got tired of the hypocrisy.

Paul was the one who recruited pagans to Christianity. He adopted many of their practices, sacraments, holidays, customs, etc. to make Christianity more comfortable for them. And when the Emperor Constantine standardized Christian belief 350 years later, it was followers of Paul's particular variety of Christianity that he invited to define the religion and pick the books for the New Testament, so they became the standard belief, the Roman Catholic Church.

Today many Christians seem unaware that so many of their practices originated in pagan beliefs. To them they are -Christian- concepts, but they still believe paganism is evil and must be eliminated.

Because if you cast history further back than pagan religions you'll find that their pagan beliefs were adopted from the truth that the Bible teaches..

But if you think about it that just means that pagans are the reason we have all these stupid holidays

    Source(s): thanks :P

It isn't totally against it, so your question is invalid.
