Mixing RAM timings (CL)?
So my PC needs a RAM upgrade. I currently have 2gb of Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 Memory, (one module) but I can't seem to find the same module online at a reasonable price! I mean, I'm not paying £50/$90 just for one module that I bought previously brand new for £20/$35. A month ago I was gonna wait til' the prices dropped but they just went up. :( So before they go up any more I want to get myself some more. The thing is, I noticed that the Ballistix memory was £50, while another crucial stick, not ballistix @ 800mhz, 2gb costs £40 or less. However, that ram's timings is 6-6-6-12, while my current ram's timings are 4-4-4-12. I'm on a VERY tight budget here, so I want to spend as little as possible. Can I mix that ram with my existing ram? Quick answers appreciated, thanks.

I wouldn't have thought it would make that much difference.
I mean you are only talking about a couple of milli seconds.
You would be increasing the capacity but the faster one
will just run at the speed of the slowest one.

Timing can continually be relax, your equipment will run all RAM on the slowest timing. So the RAM that help tighter timing will run at a a procedures better postpone timing to make certain stability yet that pronounced, those intense postpone won't be completely supported because of the fact the RAM wasn't build especially for that, so they often will artwork, yet there is likewise a danger which you will face instability confident, 3GB and 512MB VRAM must be completely addressable. different final addressable region isn't that lots besides

shouldnt have a problem, you might run into some issues if your BIOS tries to run the 6-6-6 sticks at 4-4-4, so before you install the ram i would go into your bios (delete or f1-2-12 usually at startup) and set your memory timings to the 6-6-6 speeds.
then it should be a case of plug and pray, i mean play. ;D
