  • Will an OEM Windows 7 Upgrade key work and activate with an OEM Full version disc?

I want to buy a used, (but not being used anymore) OEM upgrade version of Windows 7 Home Premium, which is very cheap as it doesn't come with the 64bit DVD. I ideally need 64bit though, but as a 64bit W7 Home Premium OEM Upgrade DVD is very hard to find, can I buy a 64bit (full version) OEM home premium DVD alone, and then use it with with the Upgrade key? Will it activate or even accept the key? I've heard that all the Windows Vista/7 discs are identical apart from the face and the supplied product key, but I'm not sure. I will be upgrading it from Windows Vista, by the way.

A quick answer would be highly appreciated, as I need to know whether to buy it ASAP. Thanks very much for looking! :)

  • Can I buy 2 £18 items from overseas and still be free of import VAT?

I want to buy some computer parts from canada. (ebay) I know that if the item is under £18 GBP you are free of import VAT charges. But what if I buy multiple items from the same ebay seller that are both under £18 but together amount to more than £18? Will I still be free of import VAT charges? I will be paying for them both at the same time, to combine postage fees.

Quick answers really appreciated, auction ends very soon! :)

If I install a module of DDR3-1600 on a motherboard that only supports 1600 when overclocked, will it run at 1333mhz so I can overclock it to 1600 or will it just refuse to work? Quick answers appreciated, many thanks. :)

  • Mixing RAM timings (CL)?

So my PC needs a RAM upgrade. I currently have 2gb of Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 Memory, (one module) but I can't seem to find the same module online at a reasonable price! I mean, I'm not paying £50/$90 just for one module that I bought previously brand new for £20/$35. A month ago I was gonna wait til' the prices dropped but they just went up. :( So before they go up any more I want to get myself some more. The thing is, I noticed that the Ballistix memory was £50, while another crucial stick, not ballistix @ 800mhz, 2gb costs £40 or less. However, that ram's timings is 6-6-6-12, while my current ram's timings are 4-4-4-12. I'm on a VERY tight budget here, so I want to spend as little as possible. Can I mix that ram with my existing ram? Quick answers appreciated, thanks.

  • Apple powermac G3 not booting up after trying to boot from puma disk?

    Hi,

I got an old powermac G3 running OS 9.2 recently, but as 9.2 can't browse the internet I decided to upgrade. I downloaded a copy of OS X 10.1, burned to CD following the instructions and stuck it in my powermac. The installer prompted me to reboot holding down the "C" key, so I did that, but... nothing. It made the startup chime, both of the HDD's clicked a little, and then... nothing. Not even a grey screen with a happy mac sign on it. I left it for around 5 minutes with no sign of it doing anything. I'm sure the video cables are connected correctly, as it was working until I rebooted. The HDD's didn't make a sound after startup. I tried disconnecting the cd drive, etc... Still nothing. So now I'm left with a mac that I can't use, taking up space. What can I do?

Answers would be VERY appreciated, I'm desperate here. :(

P.S It's the early powermac G3, with a beige case and a 300mhz processor. It also has 384mb ram, so its capable of running puma. ;)

  • Linux for an old laptop?

I wanted to get my old toshiba laptop working, preferably with linux but with it's spec, I'm not sure what will work. It has a pentium 3 500mhz processor with 64mb RAM. I have already tried a few distros... Mint/ubuntu didn't boot altogether, Crunchbang loaded fully but came up with an error and froze, I don't like puppy linux, DSL did perform very well but I hate the looks of it. DSL also has very little functionality, I mean, it can't even mount a pen drive. So i don't know what I should choose now. Could someone direct me to a linux distro that looks good and will work on my laptop? Thanks.

    Quick answers appreciated

  • Mixing RAM Latency (CL)?

Okay, my computer needs a RAM upgrade. I currently have CL4 memory, but can't find any other modules with the same latency. Can I mix my CL4 memory with CL6 memory? Quick answers appreciated. Thanks.

P.S The CL6 memory is the same brand and has exactly the same specs as my current memory, only the latency is different.

  • Mixing ballistix RAM with standard?

Okay, so my computer needs a RAM upgrade. I currently have a single stick of Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800MHz 2gb.

Now, can I mix that with this RAM? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142399

The above RAM has exactly the same specs as my current memory module, but it's not ballistix and dosen't have a heatsink. Will they work okay together on Vista?

I would get another identical stick but I don't have enough money and they're not in stock at the moment.

Quick answers would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Vista upgrade on unactivated XP Home?

Hello. I would like to buy vista for my new computer. Unfortunately the only vista I can afford is the upgrade package, which requires a pre-existing installation of 2000/XP, but I currently have no operating system on my computer. Would it be possible to temporarily install a copy of windows xp home that has already been activated and is being used on another computer, and upgrade it to vista without having to activate the XP? Thanks.

P.S I cannot afford the full version of vista.

  • Switching video connectivity?

Hello. I am using an Asus Radeon 4670 graphics card, and want to switch the connectivity from VGA to DVI. The only cable I have is a HDMI to dvi cable; my card has a hdmi output and my monitor has a DVI input. However when its all connected and I try to boot, it just displays "No signal". My monitor is HD, and I have tried this with the VGA in both the monitor and the card unplugged as well. I know there is nothing wrong with my monitor, as I have tried it with my 360 and it works, and the same goes for my cable. Am I doing anything wrong?

Also, my monitor is a GNR 22".

  • PCV licence required to drive a bus?

Hi. I was just wondering if a PCV license is required to drive a bus if you are not carrying any passengers. If so, what is the minimum age to do so and what is the largest vehicle you can drive with a standard driving license? Thanks

EDIT - Thanks for the answers, but I live in the UK.

  • Turning a Midi-bus into a Minibus?

If you ripped most of the seats out of a Mercedes-benz Vario Midi-bus to leave 8, and then get it re-classed as a minibus, would it be legal to drive it with an ordinary drivers licence at 17 years of age? If not, what is the minimum age to do so?
