Is it okay to bring a desktop PC into a hotel room?
Ok here is my situation - my laptop doesn't have the necessary files on it for what I'm doing and I have to attend a two week long seminar! It's going to take me forever to transfer the files from my office PC to the laptop and I just can't do it.
My solution is - pack up my entire desktop PC and LCD monitor and take it into my hotel room. Is this okay? Its feels rather strange to me but I'm left with no choice - it's not illegal is it?

As far as I know, it is not illegal to bring a desktop computer with you into a hotel room - it's just cumbersome and inconvenient.
If you already have a laptop, you could always purchase a thumb drive or an external hard drive - I just bought an external Western Digital terabyte drive for ~100$, and it's very portable and convenient for my needs. If the files can be moved, you might be better off just stashing them on another drive/disk. If they're "small" (ie, less than 10mb), you might even be able to email them to yourself.
