Philosophically as a coffee drinker, do you still percolate, drip, french press it or have become instant?
In Food & Drink > Non-Alcoholic Drinks.... It seems most of the responses are instant now. Only one french press... I hate to say it but I'm instant but like french press but its more work & take a few more minutes to brew - you know. Well, SCs - are you still perking or what?
I have enjoyed all these answers.. more than I had expected.

I grind mine daily & brew it with an auto GE electric coffee maker. Some days I use my Krups espresso machine that I bought for $6.95 @ a local thrift shop (new & still in the box!). My favorite way of making & drinking my coffee is to take a medium saucepan & fill it 3/4 with water & throw in 1/2 cup of ground coffee & then bring it to a rolling boil. I then turn it off & allow it to set while & assemble my filtering system that sits on top of a large ceramic mug that I've had for many years. If I'm out of paper cone filter, I've used paper towels & even a washcloth on several occasions, to strain the liquid into my mug & leave the grounds out.
I love my coffee. I grind it as fine as I possibly can & I love hitting the bottom of the cup to find a bit of that brown powder staring back @ me! One thing about coffee that I find comforting is the fact that it's legal & although most every doctor I have been to says I should not drink it---I'm just not me without a bit of a stimulant coursing through my blood. I slept for an entire year while I followed the doctors orders & put on a tremendous amount of weight without my coffee. Instant gives me heartburn. So does decaf. I like mine thick & black.
I enjoy feeling the thumping of my own heartbeat as my clogged arteries attempt to keep up & I break out in a sweat. It reminds me of the "old days" when we'd laugh @ coffee drinkers because we had our own rocket fuel. Espresso is my rocket fuel. It keeps me off of the hard drugs & prescription medications. I kid you not. I'll not die asleep @ the wheel. I'll be wide awake, thank you very much!
I gave up drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, sodium, soda, saturated fats, sex & credit cards.
Don't F#&% with my coffee, Mr President.
I can still become a crazed person if I'm pushed too far & cannot afford to keep my habit up.
It's the one pleasure in life that I can still afford on my federal benefits.
I happen to ♥Starbucks @ $10.45 a bag!
That's my shameless plug & I apologize for I know not what I do.

I am not sure what cook is doing with the coffee these days. I bought a Cuisinart whole bean grind and brew (drip) coffee maker. She keeps throwing out the metal basket. For the last few mornings I think that she is using an old sock and pouring hot water over the top. Lots of grounds. I try not to ever question cook on what she is doing.

Drip, as in pour the hot water over the grounds, the old Melita way. It smells & tastes just fine. I have a French press that was given to me, but don't have a clue how to use it. At work we have the automatic drip coffee maker all in one.
I gave up coffee for about 15 yrs, but then started it at work again & now at home. Herb tea is much better for us, I'm sure.
I was going to ask this, btw, only mine was what kind of coffee people buy with so many choices. Yours is close enough, & it's off your point total & not mine. Glad you asked.

Single cup either bodum (French Press) or drip with a hemp filter
Family pot either French Press or stove top cappuccino/
Instant coffee gets a thumbs down. I don't remember the last time I tasted the stuff.

I buy whole beans and grind them at home, and then I use a French Press. Sometimes I will use my grandmother's percolator, or a cone-filter manual drip-through (Melitta). Rarely do I use the espresso pot, as I think the French Press gives the most flavour and richness.

I perk in Spain,Drip in the US and survive on instant in the UK ( can't get the staff ).I also avoid Starbucks etc and am amazed at how much people will pay for a cup of usually miss described concoction of Coffee, milk and any other additive that they can be charged for.

I have an old Pyrex glass coffee pot and use Folger's Colombian coffee to perk in it. It takes less coffee and tastes better out of glass, I think. I have three of those old glass pots, and on e-bay, they are work a fortune. Can hardly find them anymore made of all glass with the middle part in them. Those drip things do not keep the coffee warm, and it is not warm when it comes out of them. If you put milk in it, then it is cold. I personally like McDonald's vanilla iced coffee if I buy it out. Still perkin' after all these years.

The last 21 years drip, before that perk. I still have the percolator in case the electric goes out then it is on the gas stove.

I got tired of the coffee from the Mr coffee type drip machines and went out and got a percolator. I am now so much more satisfied!

I stitched from Maxwell House coffee & my Mr. Coffee coffee maker, to my new electric percolator & Folgers "Breakfast Blend." I hadn't had perked coffee in 30 plus years & I'd forgotten just how good it tasted. So perked it is!
