Can a Minor obtain a Medical Marijuana Card with Sibling's authorization? California?
Hello I am 17 and want to get a club card. I saw a news report stating you could with parent's permission but what about a sibling's? My brother is 20, also has a card and would sign for me.
I only live with my mother and she is not against it but will not sign for me. I will continue to smoke weather or not I have a cannabis card for my insomnia. I would love the legal security of knowing I won't get arrested for taking medicine, not to abuse it.

Parental verification is required by law:
"If the person is less than 18 years of age, the county health department or its
designee shall also contact the parent with legal authority to make
medical decisions, legal guardian, or other person or entity with
legal authority to make medical decisions, to verify the information."

Hello - In California, and you should check your County land then State law.
In CA a Dr recommendation even verbal allows medical marijuana. Have your Dr. sign a recommendation and worry later about the card later.
Here is the CA law: http://safeaccessnow.org/section.php?id=363
In CA a patient is a patient with a Dr. recommendation. I'll take mine in writing. A card might need a parent or guardian signature until you are 18 or 21 - Your gonna have to read. Today in CA you do not need a card to avoid legal consequence.

James is correct. You should be aware that even if your Mother changes her mind about assisting you, a medical cannabis authorization does not necessarily prevent you from being arrested. While some law enforcement agencies will accept it and let you be on your way, others will not. The authorization is a defense if you happen to be charged with criminal possession. It does not stop the police from having probable cause to arrest you.
