Discus fish problem (older fish) Freshwater tank?

I have a 150 Gal tank, one older Discus fish that has a lump on each side of him, these are single lumps that he gets after he eats. its a bladder infection or bloat,

Here is what I have done so far, I tried the salt treatment as well as some other medications recommended by the local fish store. I tried frozen peas but he won't eat them.

The thing that sort of works is holding off on feeding him for a few days and he seems to improve but when I restart the feeding, he balloons up, when it happens he starts tilting downward then in the end he gets stuck at the bottom looking down.

my question is, has anyone ever ran into a similar problem? what is a good fix.

is he just old and stopped up?

If he is facing downwards in a corner that is a sign of an internal parasite. Anti parasitic food may help. Metronidazole is effective as a food additive and water treatment.

Also, bloating after feeding might be from floating pellets and flakes. The sinking ones are much better as the fish does not consume a bunch of air with every bite.

I have a redwag platy that does the same thing. She's such a pig she bloats after almost every meal. Something i've found helps is soaking the fish flakes in a little bit of aquarium water prior to feeding. Flakes expand as they pick up moisture, but often the fish gobble them up so fast that they don't have time to fully expand before being consumed. The flakes then expand in the fish's belly causing bloating. Stay with a nutrient rich flake food, and stay away from things like fresh/freeze dried blood worms as they are more for a treat and not meant to be a staple in the regular diet of fish. My fish still does get bloated, but i'm thinking the issue is more a birth defect than something I am causing at this point.

So the only undertaking interior the tank now, is the lifeless fish, ideal? First, get rid of the ammo chips, and don't use them. merely pass away the tank be, do no longer do water adjustments(I"m guessing you have been doing those before with the stay fish interior the tank?)merely upload new water because it evaporates. Your nitrites could start up exhibiting up quickly and the ammonia stages could start up dropping. Then the nitrites will spike and drop. the excellent cycle technique can take approximately 8-12 weeks on generic. So I say merely supply it greater time. Sounds noticeably regular at this factor. you will possibly think of roughly putting the lifeless fish in a pair of nylons/pantyhose with the leg shrink off and knotted closed. they're going to at last, in the event that they have not already, start to fall apart, and it will likely be a huge mess...... Sorry, merely observed that it rather is been a longtime tank. So, you went in the process the excellent technique and did the two a fishless cycle or a cycle with fish? Or did you purely place self belief in the ammo chips to constantly get rid of the ammonia? How regularly have been you changing out the clear out pads? Used any drugs interior the tank?
