Low carb diet how does it work please?

I am not a big exercise person but I now weigh 245 pounds and have a spare tire. I switch my diet to a low carb diet and run about 2 miles 4 times a week. I even take Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 to help me. The only problem is, I don't really know what is a low crab diet? I know you're not supposed to get too much carbs but how much carbs can I have and how much protein to take? Some people say, you have to have a cheat day to surprise your body, is that true? Is my workout good? When should I stop eating before bed? Thank you for the help everyone. I want to lose weight and get small and be healthy again.

Basically what carbs do in your body is turn directly into sugar and fat in your system, this is for energy. Now some of that is used for emediate energy, other parts of it are stored in the body as fat for later energy.

By going on a low carb diet you basically are preventing your body from building up excess energy (fat) for later use. However the second you go back to eating cabrs (even if it's your ONE cheat day) you will back on all that fat from everything you ate.

I can't stand low carb diets, they are very unhealthy for you. Unless you are doing it for health reasons with a doctor.

It's best just to eat healthier and to make beter portion choices, that will give you best long term results. You HAVE to maintain a low carb diet forever if that's how you want to lose weight, and most people don't want to maintain it forever so they gain the weight right back the second they start eating carbs, even if they wheen themselves back onto them.

Your body needs energy and carbohydrates to function normally. Esspecially if you run. You will soon find, or already find you don't have much energy while or after you run. You might be able to run better if you had more carbs.

I am on a low fat, GOOD carb diet.

Which means that all my meats and dairy products in the house are low fat or non-fat. I eat serloin steak instead of chuck, I have 96% lean hamburger instead of 80%, I only eat chicke breasts or tenderloin rather than thighs or legs. Etc. And all my dairy products are at least low fat if not non-fat.

Good fats come from plants, (olive oil), bad fats come from animals (meats and dairy products). So you want to avoid bad fats, sometimes replace them with good fats but over all you don't want to be consuming a lot of fat, just watching what fats you do consume.

I also stay away from bad carbs, bad carbs are starchy and sugar. So stay away from the sweets, or have low fat, low sugar sweets. Eat whole wat breads, not whites. Eat low carb pastas instead of regular (dreamfields makes the BEST pasta in the world, it has non digestible cabrs in it. SO you actually get the tase of carbs while your body doesn't consume it). Don't eat a lot of potates. Eat brown rice instead of white etc.

Just by making those changes I have lost weight, had more energy, I actually have less migranes and stress, I feel better, don't get sick as often and many other things. Improving your diet improves A LOT. Most people don't realise that.

It is hard to make the switch to a better diet but once you have been on it for a while it's VERY hard to stop.... you won't be able to eat fatty foods again, I mean you might be able to have your fav dounut every now and then but you won't be able to eat it all the time without it making you feel sickish. I like this diet because it's something you can easily do for the rest of your life making weight change perminant.

Also stay AWAY from supplements, they are bad for your health (esspeiclaly heart and liver) and do not benifit you. You don't need them to lost the weight you want.

Do not eat less than 2-3 hours before you go to bed. So if you go to bed at 11 don't eat later than 8-9 at night.

Your work out is very good, and as you start getting better at running bump up the speed or run longer. (I'm a distance runner myself)

When you take less carbs and be still active you are going to burn body fat:because the carb intake ain't enough to support all actions you do during the day

Do not eat after 18pm:then it will stay undigested in your stomach all night and that gives you extra carbs again.

And indeed :a cheat day is a good thing:both for your body and mind..

Then you can let go of the routine a bit

But don't fool yourself doing it more and more:then you get a Jojo effect.

    Like Ophra.

She has been struggling all her live with her weight:still till today:she can't stop eating :once a bag of crisps is open in a few minutes it is empty:so she has an eating disorder

And that is nor what you are looking for

    Be tough on yourself

    Success:Colors

The idea for a low carb diet is to take away the body's most immediate and plentiful form of fuel and force it to go to step two, which is protein breakdown to provide the body with Glucose and Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). When doing this the body also goes to your fat stores to break down fat for fuel as well. It's a controversial diet because it can have fast results if done properly but usually has a fast "rebound" when you reintroduce carbs into your diet.

I would recommend cutting portion sizes, sweets, salty foods and anything creme based and just exercise. You'll probably see better results and will be more comfortable since your body won't go into ketosis (emergency protein fuel mode).

Also incorporate light weight training into your workout regimen. Muscles that are larger have a more demanding fuel requirement, and burn more fat.

stick to around 1500-2000 calorie intake. you will never loose much weight without the effort. just eating right is not enough. working out and eating right is the key. try to work out 3-4 times a week. and also always have a mental goal in mind. if you have no motivation your success rate is lower.

Many folks don't believe a low carb diet is necessary.

Stick to 1500 calories a day ( male) from a balanced diet, and exercise and you will lose weight.
