Do you think that the world is overpopulated?
If no why not?
I personally do think it is, and it is the cause of so much of the grief we have today. Lack of jobs caused by an oversupply of workers! the sheer level of the population is whats caused the cost of living to continue to rise and rise and rise with taxes going up and up.
What do you think we can do about it?
to those who think that there is plent of space left, which space is that exactly? shall we cut down whats left of the forests? take up the deserts? use up all ecological land?
until there is nothing left just people. No wild plants, no wild animals. nothing. just people and crops and cows.
Im glad i wont be around to see it

As the philosopher Nietzsche said;
Too many are born, for the superfluous the state was created.

That the world is over populated is a truth with modification. If we as humans used all our recourses properly and without waste then there would be more than enough space in this world to have a population that's three maybe even four times larger. We have the knowledge to do this but we don't and that's the problem.
Someone has calculated that if we build a huge fully functioning environmentally friendly city for all the people in the world then it would be the size of Texas. The rest of the world would then be free from human settlement, free for nature to grow wild and free for us to grow the food we need to survive. If we then grow the food we need in a sustainable way, without damaging the world we'll be able to live like that for centuries.
The problem isn't the number of humans in this world, the problem is what we as humans does to this world.

There is also a strain on the resources of the world. However, with rising standards of living, the population growth will slow to a steadier state. With restrained and sustainable consumption the world can continue to survive.
On the cost of living, the taxes should go up to support everyone. The United States actually has a very low level of taxation (if you aren't from the US, sorry, don't know what to say). And soon, once the economy gets back on its feet, there should be a greater number of jobs in the employment pool. One way to solve the overpopulation could be to slow immigration.

Not the world, there is still plenty of space to accommodate the population, there is however overpopulation in certain areas and England is one of them. That dear old granny on the news yesterday had a valid point regarding immigration and all Gordon Brown could do was to dismiss here claims and call her a bigot, disgraceful.

Over Population is making the whole world go nuts. We are running out of resources and land. We are cutting all the Rain Forrest and causing global warming. Back in the days Human life was appreciated, now human life is just looked as a burden. But you know what they say...nature balance things it self.

No, I think it's resources are over-monopolized by incorporated interests. I think we can refuse to cooperate wherever possible, but by now, the damage is done. As disparate and mutually contemptuous as most people are, the collective rejection of imposed monopoly is not possible.

Yes we are getting overpopulated. I think that 2 children is enough for any family. Then you are relacing yourselves, and not adding numbers to the population.

Offcourse it is, you only have to look out the window. They should put all over the telvision something like "Mixing bleach, valium and scotch will give you a ginormous penis instantly" and something similar for women, at least it would get rid of half the stupid f*cks out there.

It certainly is. Perhaps we should have a tax reduction for remaining childless, backdated of course to when one first started getting taxable earnings. I'd vote for that.

No, just look at Australia for instance. Much of Australia has no one living there despite it being a continent. People just live too close together.
