Do you think that people should be choosing to have two or less children?
In this severely overpopulated world do people feel that perhaps we would be doing the best service to our children and theirs by having less children?
Our population will only shrink when people choose to have smaller families.
That choice can only be made individually!
do you agree?
and if you think that people should have as many children they like without a thought to the potenital consequences (especially for that generation and those following) please explain why you feel this way.
I am not interested in one worded answers!

Ideally, yes I do feel people should choose to have fewer children, and strangely enough in many places the birth rate is falling. This is attributed to better prospects, healthcare and education. If properly managed the planet could support the current population, and theoretically a much bigger one. But the greater the population the greater the strain on the earth's natural resources. There really is only so much you can get, even if we're not overpopulated now, we soon will be. Sooner or later we will reach and exceed the point where the earth can sustain us. This happens to most species; there's a good year, population booms, then grows until it can no longer be sustained, big die off, cycle begins again. Many animals have predators to keep their population in check, largely humans don't. We've so far managed to get out of the cycle by adapting our environment to suite us, but I do feel we've only postponed that die off, not prevented it.

i think its a personal thing for the family to decide only and for people to be dictated to on how many children they want is unfair and noones business but theirs. ive always wanted a big family of around 5 children, i did used to want 6 or 7 but thats far too many for me personally, its mine and my partners decision to have that many children and what consequences are there that i should think about? its our decision and we look after our children so therefore its our choice how many we want. if people decided to only have one or two children per family it would shrink the population, but is that really a good thing? fair enough the world is becoming overpopulated, but there are certain countries where it is normal for every family to have up to 10 children or even more, so they are the places that need that telling to. i wouldnt let anyone stop me from having the amount of children we want to, its always been my dream of a big family. i dont see how it would help anything anyway, individual families may make these changes but for it to take drastic effect and do anything then every family in the world needs to do it, but at the end of it all thats not what nature intented, the more children born the longer life goes, i see that as a positive thing everything happens for a reason.

i think it should be personal choice. who gives you or anyone else the right to say how many children someone should have. that's your opinion but its a restriction that i feel is wrong to put on anyone. also a shrinking population isn't the best thing. maybe you should rethink this thing through. how would you feel if you and your significant other really wanted a family of 3 or 4?

Severely over populated world? Come again? If that were true there would be mass deaths on every Continent due to starvation. It's just the opposite. Look at all the uneaten, STILL good food that is dumped into the landfills each and every day.
This planet is NOT over populated and our landfills prove it.
Stop listening to and believing the propaganda machine. Google the amount of edible food that is trashed daily and you'll see for yourself what a crock that claim is.
