Lawn Boy Self Propelled Lawnmower?

I am working on a Lawn Boy self propelled push mower. It runs ok until you start to mow with it and then it shuts off. Also, I keep having to prime it every time I start it. I changed the primer bulb on the advice of a local hardware and the bulb is not quite the one that was on it. Any ideas? Just wondering if the primer bulb not being exactly the right one could cause it not to stay running.

Update:

Already cleaned the carb and all that. This is a mower I am repairing for someone. I am going to change the primer bulb today and see if that is the problem.

Did you happen to leave gas in your lawnmower over the winter?

This sounds like your carbuerator is gunked up with varnish and

gunk. This can happen when gas is stored over the winter in the

carb/gastank assembly. There are extremely small orifices and

screens that can become coated with a plastic-like coating of

soft varnish. To get rid of this problem pour a can of Gunk Carb

cleaner in the tank leave overnight. Remove the carb/ gas tank

assembly and blow brake cleaner spray over all the carb surfaces

and then spray it on the filter screen on the pickup tube where the filter

lives. Let dry to air. Do not spray carb or brake cleaner on any exposed

gasket surfaces, in fact if you can remove these without damage, do

so and set them aside until you are ready to reassemble. Put fresh gas

in your gas tank. Top up your oil in the crankcase. Take your spark plug

out and spray with break cleaner and brush with a wire brush, reset your

plug gap. Before putting your spark plug back in take a turkey baster

and prime the plug with a small amount of gas and put the plug back in.

attach the wire turn on the Switch or hold the safety bail give it a choke

setting and give a good pull, it will catch with a jerk so let go off the rope

or it might break from the jolt. Let it run after adjusting the throttle to mid

point about 5 minutes. Take a velcro wire strap and strap the safety bale

to the handle and let it run. Don't let the munchkins play around a running

lawn mower Little hands don't cotton well to being hit by lawnmower blades.

Get the backyard-Boy. purely purchase a Cub Cadet no rely if this is from a dealership that still does their very own service. in any different case in case you purchase a Cub Cadet from homestead Depot and you start to have problems with it, it is going to be very not straight forward to get guarantee service through fact maximum Cub Cadet sellers purely service what they sell. I artwork for Lowes and we stopped donning the Cub Cadet using mowers this 12 months through fact of that actuality. (the two homestead Depot and TSC do not do maintenance on those)
