How do I get this bird out of the bush next to my porch?
I have this bush right next to my porch where every year, a bird tries to create a nest there.
I remember one year, the bird flew out of nowhere and I ducked down and I hit my head and scratched my glasses on the nearby mailbox, had to get new ones.
Now this year another bird (Mockingbird, if it matters) is trying to build the nest again.
My mom suggested hanging CDs over the bush to blind the bird, but that didn't work AT ALL.
Any suggestions? (And no we can't kill the bird; mostly because we don't own a BB gun or any gun at all.)

Agree with Kim. Mocking birds will reuse the same nest for years. Keep removing the nest.

Birds don't like the smell of moth balls. Put them around the bush. I once had an antique shop and pidgeons roosted at night right over the doorway leaving their droppings in the front door. A customer told me to use the mothballs and it worked. No more pidgeon poop!! Mockingbirds are the state bird in Texas and are protected. Don't kill them! It wouldn't hurt to nearly scare then to death though.

I don't think birds like human scent so touch the nest, get your smell on it. I wonder if you put human urine on it, if that would work? You could give it a try!

there is a product at Lowe's called bird net.... it's for keeping them out of the fruit trees and berry bushes... use it over your shrub ...it's almost invisible but it will keep her from building or occupying a nest there......

If you can reach it, you could take apart her handiwork every day until she gets the message and moves on.
