Any suggestions on how to get the stench of cigarettes out of a pool table?

We just purchased a used pool table for our newly refinished basement from craigslist... it is in great shape but now that we have it in the fresh new room, the stench of cigarettes coming from this table is overwhelming. We used Febreze on it, and now it is even worse... sweet perfumed cigarette stench. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

    There is nothing worse then the smell of Febreeze and stale cigarette smell.

    Here is what you need to do. Vinegar (full strength 5% white distilled) on every solid surface inside outside top bottom middles. Follow by a coating of furniture polish - lemon oil comes to mind.

    As for the felt you can have it re-felted or LIGHTLY spray it in the vinegar.

    Ventilation is key and exposure to sunlight will help if you can drag it outside on a sunny day.

    Finally and most importantly purchase activated charcoal at the pet shop. Put it in socks in all of the holes. If possible tent the table in tarp and let the charcoal do it's thing.

    Without haveing it catch fire..

    Straight ammonia..wipe all the wood surfaces(strip it useing ammonia)..

    ===

    The pool table cover would be tricky..

    You might try a large flat dish filled with ammonia--then cover the pool table with plastic..

    Just let the thing--break down..

    ===

    Next I would suggest..70-% Rubbing Alcohol..which is very flammable..

    SOOooo...you may want to carry the table outside..

    And just pour the stuff inside all the pockets and runners..stuffing in rags too wipe out the contaimination..

    ===

    Ammonia should reveal the contaimination..useing a rag with some on it--just rub some area's to determine how bad it is..

    ===

    If its the table top--you may be in for some restoration.

    White Vinegar removes the smell of cigarette smoke.

    Fill a spritzer bottle with undiluted White Vinegar. Spray the pool table lightly with this, including the felt. Don't over-saturate or the felt could ripple...you want a light spraying. Allow to dry completely. Repeat if necessary.

    I know vinegar smells almost as bad as cigarette smoke, but there's one difference. Vinegar smell dissipates within hours. Cigarette smell takes forever to dissipate.

    Once the Vinegar smell dissipates, the smoke smell will be gone, too. It works every time.

    Pool table. It seems nicer and a ping pong table looks somewhat cheap. Pool everyone gets to play and have fun. Ping Pong you have to take turns

    Get about 3 large cans of coffee grounds (new/dry) and pour them on the table, spreading it out evenly and leave on for about 3 days (you will have to vacuum them up). Coffee grounds will neutralize the smell and get rid of it, without messing up your felt. You can use coffee grounds to get rid of the most heavy/harsh smells, its safe and wont stain.

    Kitty litter will work the same as coffee only cheaper.
