2001 tundra transmission dying?

Im worried about transmission on my 2001 toyota tundra. It has been lately been getting stuck on 1st gear. By the way my truck is 4.7 v8 automatic. It has 162K miles on it. i bought it used with 142K and i have had it for 2 years and have not had a problem with it yet except i had to replace the radiator and thermo stat.

My transmission worry is that when i take off from red light or stop sign my first gear SOMETIMES gets stuck in 1st gear and i have to let off the gas and then it will shift to 2nd.

Anyone have this problem, anyone have any advice?

it sounds like there is too much particles that's probably jamming the gears inside that's causing this.

You definitely need to flush the fluid and replace the filter. Flushing the fluid will also remove all unnecessary particles which flew inside while driving. Also have your transmission seal inspected for any leaks, this could be a major repair...

I know transmission filter can be around $90, not sure about fluid I think $25. But the seal is almost $600.

Check the fluid levels in your tranny, you could just be low OR it could be your tranny filter, those need to be replaced once in awhile, usually every 60k miles.
