What would you do if it were proven Obama had no legal right to be President?

I'm not certain he would be removed. Read the Constitution, ONLY congress can remove a sitting president. If the supreme court invalidated the election it would have the result of removing a sitting president, which the judicial branch may not do. So there's that whole thorny legal question to consider, namely if the supreme court can take an unconstitutional act and simply decree it constitutional. He would have to be impeached, and with the current makeup of the Senate I'm not 100% sure he would be removed. Look at Clinton. He was obviously guilty of what they impeached him for but they still couldn't get a conviction. It would become a political hand grenade, with partisanship running rampant. Both my senators are currently democrats, and they're as partisan as you get. My rep is republican but the state as a whole has more D's than R's. So I'd write letters and whatnot, but I've seen in the past that they never even get read. But impeachment is the course that his removal would have to take, and that doesn't invalidate anything he's done.

The only thing that would happen is that the Vice president would take the office and so we would have President Biden, that's the way the law is written.

We wouldn't be doing anything at all, and I'm willing to bet there either is or would be a law that the new President could agree immediately to all treaties and pacts that the former president signed, so there would be no lapse or change in established law.

What else is there to do, laugh, cry, throw rocks? When Nixon was shown to be a plain old criminal the world didn't end, it wouldn't end if any president leaves, we are more than just the occupant of the Oval Office.

Lets just say any president is found to be ineligble, not a R or a D specifically. What would the average person do?

And the answer to that is that the average person would shrug and go on about their business. In the real world average people are more worried about their lives than which person is in the White House.

You politicize the question when you ask specifically about Obama, but Dems aren't going to riot, and while Reps might want to skip, they still won't be taking over.

But there would have to be incontrovertable proof, not rumor, not internet bloggers, not right wing 'journalists'.

Real solid proof. And if there were it would have already been found, not just by the Republicans or Democrats, but by all the people who have made forcing Obama out a life mission. And even they can't find real unmanufactured evidence.

You admit that your question has not roots to the meaning. Then why did you ask it ? Our President has proven that he has all legal rights upon election. It DOES matter. Those people running political parties would NEVER allow someone to be a candidate if there were any doubts as to citizenship. Simply put, Mr. Obama is as American as it gets. There is NOTHING hypothetical to consider. You are working upon a logical fallacy. Get over it.

If it was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt by a credible source, Obama would have to step down as president.

I wouldn't do anything because it is never going to happen. The conspiracy theories are BULL-oney. He has provided a birth certificate. It also doesn't matter as his mother was a US citizen which automatically gives him US citizenship anyway. This "birther" nonsense is really starting to get old - a long time ago.

I'm British and find all this 'is Obama really American' stuff totally distasteful - anyway, if it were proven that he wasn't born in America, I would yet again shake my head in wonder at the total incompetence of the American political system, I mean if they can't even verify a birth certificate there must be something really wrong somewhere!
