Why do so many athiests on Y!A try so hard...?

1) atheists do not try to prove there is no God, because that is impossible, just like it is impossible to prove there is not a teapot orbiting around the sun, too small to be detected by our telescopes. Atheists merely show that the common 'evidences' for God are faulty.

2) Atheism does not entail belief, but the lack of it. That is its definition: the lack of belief in God/gods.

3) Atheists do not try to force fairytales into science classes, nor do they use them as a basis for politics.

4) Atheism does not entail 'not believing in religion and/or spirituality'. I for example am very spiritual, and there are lots of religious atheists (usually buddhists).

False we are merely trying to help you escape the child abuse of having been forced to be christian!!

They are christian, Muslim or the other religions depending where they were born simply because they were indoctrinated by their parents as very young children. They will go on to indoctrinate their own children and those will go on to indoctrinate their grandchildren!!

Atheists have the intellect to see through the conditioning and escape into the real world!!

Agnostics have the intellect to see through the conditioning but lack the courage to throw of the conditioning entirely.

Sadly Christians are still held firmly prisoner by the self perpetuating brainwashing!!

But thank you for proving yet again that Christianities’ problems are not about atheists, belief, God or Jesus but about the intolerance, hatred and persecution from those terribly BAD Christian attitudes and conduct!!

As soon as Christians rediscover the loving god and start acting like it the problem will cease!!!!

Of course until then christianity will increasingly get called the "Nasty Religion"!!

umm I am secure in my believes.

I just ask for logic. if I tell you that a doll spoke to me, would you believe me? no, it sounds too much fantasy.

my issue is not with the believe of god, is with the fact that people quote the bible as if it is fact. when the bible has been written so many years ago..and it has been change. Even when a normal book is translated to another language, some things might lose meaning. now, think of that in the past 2,000 years alone. there was a king, I think Henry xiii who changed it so many times to benefit him. even in 101 conversations things get distorted.

I dont want people to not believe in god, just the whole biblical thing needs to be though of with logic. Also, we live here, we should worry about what we need as a society, not how to go to heaven. once we do what we need to do, if heaven exist it will take care of its own.

and about us posting here, is bc there is not an atheis section, and besides, it will be boring:) I have a great time here.

I come to see why you believe because in my mind it defies logic. Brain cant comprehend man that is around 75% water being created from dirt. Or a boat that was not even half the size of the titanic, having over a million animals, and enough food for all those animals for one year. Once again my brain won't let me believe that. So I come to see if any one can explain these things to me with out making it sound like a magic trick by some celestial Creator that no one has ever seen.

I have never told any believer that there was no god for them there is, for me I don't believe in that kind of god.

Please look up the definition of 'spiritualty" in the Oxford english dictionary.

You'll find that not all things considered 'spiritual" have to do with gods.

Atheists believe one thing.

They don't believe in gods. That's it.

One can be a spiritual person, interested in spiritual things and pursuits without the belief in gods.

This is a concept that many religious folks have a hard time wrapping their heads around.

The english language is a beautiful thing.

I don't want religion in public schools or politics.

This is a public forum for all.

If you're sincere, you will simply sit back and allow another religion to take over your town and country and force its own laws on you on the grounds that you're secure in your beliefs and there's no need to spread your word.

Are you sincere, or are you expecting us to passively let you run roughshod over us in a way that you would never stand for yourself?

It's kind of hard for them not to when there are questions on here like:

What god do you believe in?

Is there a god?

will I go to hell for kissing this girl?

I believe in god but i didn't go to church sunday, what will happen?

Why did god have millions of innocent people killed in the Bible?

Questions like these i've seen here and are an open door for any answer.

Most atheists think proving there is no God is impossible. Can you prove that an invisible, incorporeal unicorn isn't flying around Uranus? No.

So your question is wrong from the start. Most atheists here, if they are not cracking jokes, are trying to show why believing in gods makes no sense. That is VERY different from trying to prove they do not exist.

Actually, I think most of us are trying to have a good time at religions expense.

It's fun, I can't speak for other Atheists but I only stick to "spreading our word" as you would put it on Y!A. Most people don't know I'm an Atheist actually.
