What is the appropriate time frame for birthday party invitations?
I'm planning a birthday party for someone in the middle of July. It's a night out on the town for friends which is a mixed crowd of ages, singles, married couples, married couples with kids and it's during the week. Is it appropriate to send a 'Save the Date' invite? If so, when should that be sent? If not, when should regular inviations be sent?

I'd say around 4 or 5. I would send invitations a week or two in advance.

in the middle of july, people tend to take summer vacations and generally not be around,
if you want the maximal number of people you invite to attend, i would drop hints that you would like to throw a bday party at round that time, and feel out if theyre gonna be around. then send out invites at the end of may and repeat it 3 weeks later(at whcih point emphasize that you need a head count so you can order food appropriately)
