Does the native american (Indian / NDN) community feel that Obama is keeping his promises?
Read that Michael Black, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, has been named director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The article also states:
"Black joins a growing list of other Native Americans from South Dakota who have assumed prominent posts in the Obama administration. Yvette Roubideaux, a member of the Rosebud tribe, is director of the Indian Health Service, and Lillian Sparks, a Lakota woman of the Rosebud and Oglala Sioux Tribes, recently was named commissioner of the administration for Native Americans."
I'm just wondering if these changes are making any positive changes for the native community.
If you're native I would like to hear your perspective.

I havent seen any changes yet. Our health care or other known as IHS isnt all that good. Actuallyt its pretty crappy. Its kinda been going down hill for a while. It is very hard to find a good IHS doctor, atleast where i am from it is. At one time all of our health care needs were being met, but now if you go in to see the doctor and you need to go see a specialist or something it is really hard to get a referal becaue IHS wont pay for it. My baby sister had to have major surgery done on her because she had craniosynotosis so they had to operate on her head and IHS would not cover that. Some ppl have cancer and are not able to get the proper care that they need because IHS wont cover them. It is very sad. Hopefully we will start seeing some changes soon.

for many of us he has now earned the name hanadahguyus (town destroyer) and has shown that when it comes to native people he is just like all the others before him.
he has already broken his promise to consult with our nations before making changes that will affect us and to keep trade open. i have no idea what those indians appointed to his administration are doing but they are certainly not speaking up for the people. i suppose like so many who jump into the invaders boat, they have forgotten who they are.
passing a law that effectively makes our biggest industries illegal is not helping us help ourselves.
settling a 15 billion dollar debt owed by the government for 3 billion instead, is not helping native people.
in a years time he has already shown he is no friend of indigenous people in north america. he is yet one more in a long line of presidents who did what they could to destroy us.
