Cradle cap is basically a really bad case of dandruff. IT is dry skin, and is not harmful to the baby.
To treat it you moisturize it. A good way to do this is to put baby oil on the baby's head and put a hat over it overnight.
You can also put oil on it and wash it off right away (less effective) or put baby moisturizer on it (less effective than oil). I use Aveeno shampoo because I know from experience it is less drying then the Johnson's and Johnson's type. But if you use oil after it won't matter what shampoo you use.
Also bathing the baby less often helps. Once a week is often enough, daily or more is generally going to cause skin problems.

before the bath, put a small bit of baby oil on the head, rub it in, then in the bath, shampoo and wash it all out really good. after the bath use a small comb very close to the head, getting out as many flakes as you can. the skin will look red and irritated but it doesn't hurt the baby at all. we did this and after about a week of doing it, the cradle cap was all cleared up.

You can put baby oil on her head to loosen the flakes and moisturize her head. You should switch to a shampoo that is less drying to your baby's scalp and wash her hair less frequently, (every other day at most). Finally, when you are shampooing your daughter's hair, make sure you completely rinse out all of the shampoo since incomplete rinsing can lead to cradle cap as well.

My son has a really bad case of cradle cap - so bad that even olive oil only temporarily solves the problem. We found this soap called Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap; it's an 18-in-1 unscented baby-mild castille soap made with all organic oils. The first time I washed his hair with it, all of the flakes and weird goo came right off, didn't inflame his scalp, and I haven't had to worry about it anymore! It's a miracle soap for sure.

There is a shampoo specifically fo this problem... In fact I believe it is called cradle cap shampoo... the bottle is greenish, and can be found with other baby shampoos... If I remember correctly, we found it at Target... It was the only thing that worked for my son... He hated the process, but one use cleared it up, and there hasn't been any since.

Rub a little baby oil into the scalp. Wait about 10-15 minutes, then use a soft brush or comb to loosen the scales away from the scalp. Then shampoo as normal.
This helps quite a bit.

My son had it bad, thick yellow scales. That would appear overnight. I would just put baby oil on his head and I used this soft plastic brush we got at the hospital to scrub it in. I would scrub his head with this when I washed his hair as well. Helped the problem a lot, but I had to do this every other day for about a month. Then it went away and he hasn't had a problem since.

For my daughter i used johnson and johnson baby shampoo and added baby oil to it. It got rid of it in a few days. Hopes this helps!

I just roughed it up with a bath brush while still dry, then again while washing her hair. Most of the dry skin came off during the 1st bath.
