Laptop recommendation?

My family and I have had Toshiba laptops for the past 6-7 years, all with satisfactory performance.

My grandson is graduating from high school shortly and I want to buy a laptop for him. My first inclination is to buy him a Toshiba, but recently I've read reviews that suggest that Acer and Sony have more elaborate products in the same price range.. I'm looking to spend @$800. Any particular model you would recommend. Thanks to all that answer. Granpa R.

    Hey Grandpa R...

If your grandson is graduating from high school then he must like to game as well. For well rounded laptops that will play games, be good for videos and store all of his music, I would look into Asus, MSI, or Sager laptops. They are the most well rounded and with premium builds, they will last him a long time.

Best buy sells plenty of Asus notebooks in your price range but MSI and Sager's are mostly online on newegg.com.

Remember to look at the graphics card in the laptop. If they are either ATI or Nvidia and they say dedicate card, then that's the best for you.

    Hi there,

If you want to branch out from the Toshiba, here are a couple of recommendations that are great for a high school grad/new college student:

Dell Studio 15: Multimedia capabilities. 4 GB RAM, plenty of storage, and portable enough to take to class

Sony Vaio NW: Cool multimedia features such as sorting and creativity tools and 4 GB RAM

Acer Aspire AS7740-5691: Large cinematic screen and smart Intel Core i3 processing.

You can compare these laptops and find others in your price range using a tool called PC Scout. Follow the link below to check it out!
