I have a story about pepper spray. A friend had one in his Volkswagen glove box (in those days we didn't know they shouldn't get overheated in a hot car) and one day I was riding with him and we began to feel as if our eyes were burning. It got worse and worse until it dawned on us that the thing had exploded, maybe from the heat, maybe from slamming the glove box door. By the time we piled out of the Volkswagen we were fully pepper sprayed and just about dying.

I dont and I dont know anyone that does, but I live in a pretty safe area, in fact the city right next to us was the safest city in the US in some list last year and I think ours was like 7 or 8 for cities over 50,000.

I used to carry mace, if that counts. Now I just carry this big-*** knife around. It's actually my Aunt's knife, she used to use it when she worked at Lowe's, and one day this guy came in with a little 3-inch Swiss army knife trying to rob the place (what kind of idiot robs a home improvement store, anyways...?), and she pulled out this great big foot-long knife and says "Mine's bigger than yours" and the guy took off running, scared shitless.

As for your bonus: one time, my best friend, who is now my boyfriend, borrowed my mace and was "testing" it to see if it worked and accidentally shot himself in the face with it.
