Question about registry cleaning?
Does anyone know of a free registry cleaner that is downloadable and safe to use? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Registry cleaning is not something that should be attempted by the average user, there is too much risk that the automated process will actually damage your computer.
Even Ccleaner needs you to know which boxes to untick to save a potential broken computer.

CCleaner is probably the most popular free cleaner that's available online. This tool is available from http://www.ccleaner.com/ and is used by a lot of people.
However, I would personally not use CCleaner because it's not very effective at cleaning out the registry. Instead, I would use a tool called "Frontline Registry Cleaner" which you can download from http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/best_registry_cle... - this is a much more effective and reliable cleaner but does cost money.

Yes, you can download and install CCleaner. CCleaner does a good job cleaning up the registry and other stuff. It depends where you download it from. The following link should be safe...

Try CCleaner : http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
Don't forget to take a back up before cleaning the registry. Using CCleaner, you may also remove unwanted system restore points saving some space in your hard disc.

don't ---if you have to use a cleaner --use ccleaner- very safe and effective
your better off using the search feature and deleteing the left over files --if one won't delete- use search in safe mode
never ever use ccleaner registry cleaner in safe there are things that come up you know nothing about and can't reverse, once deleted

I've used 'Spybot-Search and Destroy" for years to clean up my registry and also to deal with malware, tracking cookies, etc. It's free and can easily be found with most search engines. It's not a virus or trojan scanner though, so you still need that protection.

Stay away from anything that has "fast..." or "best_" in the name or the link.
