Are last names necessary for pen names?
Is it okay to have a pen name that is simply one name? I'm trying to find a name that will work for my novel and other pieces of fiction but I can't seem to find anything that fits. My real name is too common to use, and all the names I come up with are already being used as domain and blog names. And if I do become a published author I'd want my pen name to be my blog and website addresses. So I was thinking that I'd just use one name, without a last name. Would that be okay, or would publishers not like that?

MUST you use a pen name? I know it seems cool, etc. But as a book editor and publisher, I have to say pen names give me a huge pain. Why? Because I have to keep track of who is who, and it's not easy. Is Mary Smith also Imakoolkid? Or is she BeauteousOne? Who do I make out her check to? What is her blasted email address? Aaaggghhh! Oh, never mind. Do what you want. I'll deal with it somehow.

That is perfectly fine. An example would be the author Avi.
